Pop Century's bad rap - is it deserved?

I spent a couple of nights there last month before moving over to POR. I didn't think it was bad at all. I asked for a quiet room and we had a very quiet room back in a corner which was great. A little bit of a walk but not too bad. We had our own car so I can't comment on the bus service.

We love POP. Last year we stayed at WL and we have stayed at CBR but both my kids prefere to be at POP. They actually hated (well my DS, DD not old enough to remember) WL it was too grown up for them and not what we would call kid friendly. DH and I talked about it would be a great place to stay when not with the kiddos. But POP is all about the kids and them having fun and being just that kids.:cheer2:

He is probably talking about the video on youtube - there is a 3 minute or so video showing close ups of the abandoned construction over at the Legendary side. It's pretty creepy. I wonder when they will get around to finishing it.
The word going around is that the Legendary years are going to be worked on soon and eventually finished (not sure how many total buildings). Word is that they will become family suites like at ASMu.

HI all!
We just returned from POP on 8/31 and we had an awesome stay our first 2 days were pretty quite and laid back then once it was apprx the 3rd day of Free Dining it was packed people everywhere! But still managable! We were in 50's building #2 JukeBox and we were on the ground floor facing the pool and we were literally footsteps to the pool! It was great! There was also 2 families with lots of kids in the rooms above us and the pool out front I thought for sure the noise would be overwhelming! but it wasn't we didn't hear anyhting that wasnt normal. The only complaint I really had was the bus service from Epcot to POP we waited 20 some minutes a few times and it wasn't park closing time! It seemed like at Epcot more buses parked to break then picked up! Other than that it was a very minimal complaint and with free dining I guess expected! because of being overally busy with people! :thumbsup2

Add me to the list of folks who love love love POP! :) Now that I'm planning trips solo, it's my resort of choice (unless I wind up with a 'too good to pass up' code or something).

The only way I can see someone not liking it is if they wanted something super quiet and laid back. But POP is great, have a wonderful time!

We have never stayed at anything but a mod but last time we were trying to save money and cut corners and it was a last minute trip. We stayed at the Pop and loved it! The decor is fun, the rooms were small but not tiny and we enjoyed the stay very much. What i did miss were the bigger bathrooms and double sinks and the fridge we get at the mods but it wasn't a terrible big deal and I would happily stay there again.

We love POP and are going back in Jan. Did not like ASSport but Movies was ok but we like POP the best

Overall, is it noisier than the All Star resorts?
My personal experience is that it's about the same as the All Stars. The buildings are 4 floors at POP instead of 3 at All Star, so there are sort of more people in a smaller area, but I think how quiet or noisy your room is depends more on your location than anything else. The lake-side and parking lot view rooms are often times quieter due to being farther away from the pools and facing away from the main building.

If you decide to stay at POP and want a quieter location, I would suggest asking for a 4th floor room with a lakeside view.

But generally, no, I didn't find POP to be any different from the All Stars.
