We have a trip booked in September. My husband, myself and my sister in law are going September 22nd-30th and my in laws are joining us from the 25th through the 30th. We originally wanted Coronado springs or Caribbean beach but opted for pop Century to save a little money. I'm worried it might be a little kiddish for 5 people over 19. How was your experience with PC? Any special tip or tricks about this resort? Would love to hear anything

Update- I guess kiddish wasn't the right terminology for a Disney trip (since I'm a big kid at heart lol). But my father in law wanted the moderate and we ended up having to do POP instead. So I was just curious what older generations had to say about it and personally I prefer the total in your face Disney immersion and I was a little worried this place lacked that :) but it does sound like a great place. Thanks for the comments and I Look forward to anymore tips anyone has :)

I love Pop!
Take a look at the themes and see what appeals to you. You can request a certain section, though there are no guarantees of course.
My personal favorite is the 50's section, but the 60's and 70's are popular on here as well.
A lot of people suggest requesting lake view, it's usually quieter than the rooms that face the pools. (Unless you have loud neighbors)

I am quite a bit over 19 and I love POP. My family loves it - but, I love it, personally, as well!

A standard lake view room is a great view for a standard value room. We love it here for a budget trip. The food court is good and you can cross the bridge to access AoA's grounds for picture ops and another food court.

The buses are quick and efficient. The rooms are comfortable and have everything that you need. It is a tremendous place to stay, especially if you aren't planning to spend a lot of time at the resort.

I would (and probably will) happily stay here again.

I second the standard, lake view. This is what we always request!

if i did not buy dvc in 1993 - would definitely be staying at Pop - it is a great resort no matter your age. the bus service here is probably the best.
now you can't rent a boat like at cbr - and you don't get table service either - just counter (quick) service.

If you think the resort is too "kiddie", Disney World might not be the right place for you. ;)

Pop is a great value resort surpassed, IMHO, only by the new Art of Animation. The only thing that bothers me about the value resorts is the size. I always seem to get put in a room that is as far away from the parking lot as possible. If it were just me I wouldn't mind, but three tired kids and a tired mommy can make for a long walk. ;)

Your talk of tired mom and kids reminds me of my trips to POP with my kids. Trying to carry a sleepy little one back to our room.

Seriously I am looking forward to our visit to POP next week,

Its really fun when you finally get to your room and realize someone left something in the car and you have to go back and get it. :)

I just booked the week prior to you at POP. I have stayed at all the value hotels and I like this one the best. I rent a car so prefer the bldg. in the back. Food court can feel like WWW. You would think soft drinks were going to run out. A good hotel if you will be at the park or out most of the day.

Heck no!!!! I am 53 and my husband is 55 and Pop Century is our favorite resort. Go along the lake and walk the path and see the signs for an event from every year from 1950 to 1999. Talk about where you were, what you were doing, where you lived. We laughed at the events that happened in our birth years, in our marriage year, in our children's birth years. And that was with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandkids. And before, with both sets of our parents. Look at the icons on the buildings and talk about those. We were laughing so much with our grandkids explained what a floppy disc on the 80s building was because they have no idea. It' so much more than buildings and stuff - it's the conversations you can have with all ages. Rubiks Cube - you actually had to hold that thing in your hand, there were no Easter Eggs and no "retry" and nothing on a phone. Foosball. A yo-yo (which these days can't even be taken into a school).

I had originally booked music but then changed to POP! So glad I did by hearing all the great reviews from you all!

POP is one of my favorite Disney resorts and I am well over 19! :)

Two of the big reasons are:
--Hourglass Lake which is at the back of the resort and has the bridge over it that connects to AOA. First, the bridge itself is beautiful and even moreso at night when it's lit. Second, there is a path around the lake that is peaceful to walk day or night and was NEVER crowded anytime I've done that. It's very serene with nice nature views and a wonderful escape from the chaos of the parks. There are also scattered benches along the bridge and it's ends where you can sit and just soak in the views. Also, because of this bridge/lake it's like having 2 resorts for the price of one--while you can't use AOA's pools, you can use their food court or just walk around and explore the resort. It's a stunning resort and a must-see if you've never been there with tons of photo-ops. It's like walking through an actual Disney movie!
--The food courts at POP and AOA are the two best on Disney property, imo. If you like to eat healthy, there are great options at both of these, including make your own salads with salmon or chicken. I feel like I eat much better QS when I stay at either of these resorts. (Although I stayed at AS Music recently, and they seemed to have take a lesson from them with their food court renovation and had much healthier choices than I had previously remembered.)

I think it is a good choice even if not going to the parks every day all day. We go for 17 days so we are at the resort probably a bit more than the average weekly traveler. We even do stay at the resort a couple of days we may head to DTD or something for a movie but we enjoy our resort time there. My kids love the pool activities and honestly we like the in your face Disney stuff. We are booked in a Preferred room this year for our package portion but hoping we can just stay in the standard room lake view. I booked standard for our RO for the first 2 nights. But our Package I had to swap the dates around after I booked air so we could only get a preferred room.

I passed age 19 a loooooong time again and I really like Pop. TOP FLOOR LAKE VIEW will be both beautiful and QUIET.

Pop has a very nice food court with many offerings.

Well I will see you there! Im going sept 26th-oct 8th. Were doing Movies resort for our first 2 nights cause there was no room left at POP. We just added the first 2 days last min. We usually stay at PO or AK lodge but Im going with friends and we wanted to save money so we opt'd for POP. Ive never stayed there, been there and it looks nice and heard a lot of good things about it. Have fun, maybe Ill see you around!
