1.1 Billion dollars in the last year yet they have buildings in the back of this resort rotting to death, whats the deal ???

Many reasons. Perhaps you don't know about the occupancy levels and the room night demand for WDW. At this point, building more value room nights into their inventory would not increase their revenue enough to support the cost.

Couple that with the internal demands, taxes, staffing and the rest, and Disney has made a business choice not to go ahead with it..

Also that site has to be torn down and built back up again from scratch...

Pretty clear what they are doing...............

What a shame, I just wish they would get on with it, doesn't help make your stay their very magical now does it ...

hey I still love a lake view at Pop.

one of the reasons I heard was disney wanted the contractor to go with suites - he refused - and disney lost the court case.

that say - these building will start before 2009.

also a few years ago (might be 3) - Disney promise the stockholders no new resorts at WDW for 5 years. this is still in effect.

although not considered to be new - it costs would make it new.

most of the pre work done was to the pipes which are underground - so I don't think the costs would be that high - or that much stuff would have to be redone.

the building certainly but they only have what 3 building up. but the site work done for 11 more.
