Pop Century vs. moderate

Call me a snob, but i would stay off site before i stay at POP. It is just ugly to look at...period.

If you are dead set on saving money and must stay at a disney resort....do all stars. They are not as stomach turning to look at.

I would beg borrow or steal tp at least stay at a mederate. That's where the disney experience realley starts.

I feel the opposite. Before I started staying at Pop (my favoriate resort in Disney), my only on-site experiences were moderates. I loved all my moderate stays and ignored the All Stars because they just didn't appeal to me and moderate was in my price range without breaking the bank. However, when Pop was built, I wanted to try it because I love Pop Culture. It was love at first site when I visited Pop. I loved Pop so much more then any other resort I have stayed at Disney and non-Disney. I just find it to be so magical.

I have stayed at Pop four times and am planning going again next year 08. Every stay was great and the place just keeps getting better and better. Now that I have stayed at a value, I can see how they are all very similiar and would probably love the All Stars too, but I just love Pop too much to try something else for now.

Don't get fooled by pictures, this place is really fun and pretty at the same time. When you walk into the lobby - it feels like walkig into another theme park. The colors are so vibrant and then you see the food court and the gift shop and then you know you are in Disney. The pool is just great and floating in it at night looking at the 60s buildings feels like a dream.

POP Century does not share a but with other resorts so the service is great. Value resorts are all a great time. The kids love them.

a few weeks ago from a Mother/Daughter trip staying at POP. We were in the 80's section, 4th floor, corner room. Absolutely silent!! No noise whatsoever while we were there. Mousekeeping was very good. The walk from the bus stop was not bad, even with stairs to climb (never used the elevator). Transportation system worked perfectly, never waited more than 5 or 10 min for a bus although we did stand most of the time, could have waited for the next bus but we didn't mind standing as the bus rides were pretty short from POP to anywhere. A good stay given that we spent no time at the hotel except to sleep (and "GLOW" at the Hippy Dippy pool with fellow DISers!!!)

All that having been said, I probably won't stay there again unless I really need to economize. I missed the "resort" feel, too much like a Best Western, abet a clean, Disney Best Western, for me. Next trip POFQ.

JMHO

We stayed at POP in Sept '06 with my then DS 6 & DD 3 & really liked it. Previously (before kids) we stayed at CS & then DL (Dixie Landings). I see what another poster wrote, in that for adults I would go with mods every time. But for smaller kids POP is the ticket (at least for us). They loved the pool & the food court selection was fabulous. I see that other poster's recommend the 50's or 60's but we really enjoyed the 80's. Yes, it was a long walk to the food court & buses but the 80's seemed quieter in the evening & this was what we needed to get our little ones to sleep.

I'm an early riser, so I enjoyed the walk to the food court to get breakfast for the sleepers. And the Computer Pool was never crowded & we used it often, esp mid-afternoon & evenings.

I'll be staying at POP next May with my DD7 - a pre-celebration of her 8th birthday, and a post celebration that my 2nd biopsy came back cancer-free. Life is grand!!!

Can I request a Lake view? Can I request which building?

I would live to sit out on the balcony (walkway) looking at the lake and sip a glass of wine after DD falls asleep one night.

Which I guess begs the question - is there anywhere onsite I could buy some wine?

Congrats to you!:woohoo:

They have wine in the food court. I'll check it out when I go in Nov and let you know how much. I think they have both 1 glass bottles and bigger ones.

I personally would pay the extra for a moderate. The rooms are a bit bigger, you have more sink space, the resort is less compact and IMO less noisy....I have always found the bus service to be better as well.
