I just made my ressies for Pop Century. I used the central reservations (CRO) number 407-934-7639. Our dates are 12/18-23/05 (so you don't have to count on your fingers, that's 5 nights  ). I got a standard room and requested King, 50's, fireworks view, 4th floor. Before I called, I checked online to compare prices and this is what I found...

Website: Room portion of a package - $530
Website: Room only - $496
CRO: Room only - $429 ($77 night)
CRO: Room only with AAA discount - $340 ($61 night)

Just thought I'd share!

:bounce: I can hardly contain myself... I'm goin to Disney!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Hmmm, that's interesting. I wonder why such a big difference between CRO and the website for room only rack rate?

Very interesting! I'll have to price it online and call CRO next trip to compare!

I haven't done the math, but could this possibly just be a tax difference? Since you have the AAA discount, that discount is before tax. Since your price is lower your taxes are also lower.

CRO and the website work off the EXACT same availability system, so that is surprising that the prices are different, rack rates should be within cents of each other between internet and CRO.

The website usually comes up with a preferred room rate, and gives you a -$ amount for the rate for standard.

There ya go....
That makes sense! The CRO did not give you a quote for the King room!
King and preferred are more than standard.
When you called CRO they probably just put on your ressie that it was standard and you were "requesting" a king if it's available (maybe get a free upgrade).
The web site will automatically put in the extra cost of the king.

Correction, at the Pop Century, the King rooms do not cost more (well only if they are in a preferred building, then you pay the preffered building price).

OOPs....my bad. :confused3
I always thought all the king rooms were extra.
Then.....can't explain the difference in price. :confused3

LOL! Don't feel too bad. I think the king rooms cost more only in the Mods. But now I can be wrong about that. ;)

Just checked. The website quoted $496 for room only-with preferred location automatically selected. After choosing Standard View Room and then update, the rate went down to $429.30

The website always defaults to Preferred Room Location.

I just checked the Annual Passholder Best Rate program for your dates and came up with $329 (standard) or $395.90 (preferred). It's interesting that the Passholder Best Rate program only beats AAA by $11 for the entire stay ($2.20 per day). One would think that the Passholder rate should beat the AAA rate by more than $2.20/day.

I am planning on going for Thanksgiving 2006. Do you know if they offer AAA discounts during that period (i.e. regular season)? I was wondering if it would be worth it to join AAA just to get the discount.

Just call the CRO number above (not the 800 number) and ask for the rate for that time... then ask what the cost would be with a AAA discount.

I did and she would not give it to me. She said that I had to have a AAA number in hand in order to get the information on that rate.

I'm sorry, they gave it to me without the number. As a matter of fact they gave me the ressies without the number, I just have to call them with it. I guess it depends on who you talk to.
