My family and I have never done the movie by the pool before. Do they have chairs set up for people to use or do we bring our own seating? I was wondering if I should pack my all weather blanket. Thanks for any help!

Just 10 days until we are here! Sorry, I have no one else to share my excitement with. It's a total surprise for my kids and my husband would kill me if I told all of Facebook when we won't be home :)

We're surprising our son, too!

Hey, it's smart to not post on FB! (So hard to do, though!) I feel your pain :grouphug:

Thanks so much!!! Where can I find what movies are shown each night?

The first page of this thread post #6. And you'll get a schedule upon check in.

Hey guys! My husband and I will be celebrating our 4th anniversary at Pop starting Oct 17!!! We've stayed there multiple times before, but never had a need/want for a bottle of champagne. Does anybody know what's available in EverythingPop and if it can be sent to your room?

I'm right there with ya! We are surprising our kids too and the closer it gets, the harder it is for me to hold it in! lol Luckily you only have 10 more days...I have 43!

:offtopic: I'm very very curious:confused3.... We got back on the 19th...I have written my review already on my great stay with the exception of a cockroach finding in my suit case on our last day...I know someone on here replied to my review, stating they had also found one in their room...We stood in the 60's section, again we got back fairly recently...I'm just curious, has anyone else found any roaches in their room??:confused3:confused3

We were in the 60's section at the end of August and my husband caught a cockroach scurrying up the wall when we turned on the lights one morning. I brought it to the front desk. Pest control was called. They confirmed it was a roach and they sprayed our room.

We just kept calm and park hopped on.....It didn't affect our trip or our love for Pop!

Us too!! We leave next Saturday and right now I'm more excited to tell my kids than to actually go! They think that they can't go to Disney until they are 8 and 10 years old...little do they know...:rotfl2:

They have the lounge chairs set up there (the ones that are around the pool), sometimes the kids will bring a blanket or towel and sit up front. We just used the chairs but its nice to have a blanket to snuggle in, makes it that much more comfy. Hope you have a great time!!! :)

They're "palmetto bugs" aka roaches. They are abundant in Florida. It doesnt mean its a cleanliness issue like it is for the most part up north. I live in Pa...so up here that's what it usually means. But because its "tropical like" down there, you'll see a lot of them.

Hello to all - we are scheduled for our first time at Disney at POP next October, over a year away! I am a total, insane freak about roaches. LIke paralyzed with fear over them. Actually over any bugs but roaches specifically. I did live in south Florida for 5 years and am well acquainted with palmetto bugs as well, which I am also completely terrified of, to the point where I have severe anxiety about it. Palmetto bugs are bigger and can fly, roaches are small and scurry in packs. OMG just typing about it is making me nuts. Anyway, either one is an absolute deal breaker for me, although I recognize that the larger palmetto bugs can sometimes get inside through no fault of the resort. Roaches on the other hand are something that would cause me to literally change resorts if there is even a HINT of them.

Anyway, can the OP confirm that this was a roach and not palmetto bug? Also, anyone else that has EVER seen a roach at Pop if you could let me know details (number of them, which section, etc.) that would be great. Please do not post pictures to demonstrate differences in palmetto bugs/roaches because I cannot even look at them, that is how bad it is. Please no flames for being such a wuss, just looking to see if this is something that I need to worry about.

And I cannot even imagine one in a suitcase - what if it came home with you? OMG I cannot even think about it.:eek::eek:

Thanks so much.

.

We caught our roach the first morning of our 13 day trip. We didn't even ask to change rooms because we loved our room location so much! :thumbsup2 We never had any problems with critters the rest of our trip. Don't worry! :)

We always unpack outside when we arrive home and give everything a good shake. Luggage is vacuumed and all clothing goes into the washer.

We found no evidence of hitch hiking roaches this trip!

Just enjoy your trip! Roaches could be anywhere. Don't let it ruin your fun! :goodvibes

I would think they aren't roaches. If the hotels had actual roaches they would be in all the rooms.

Sorry for your fear. This is how I feel about snakes. I lived in Ft. Myers years ago and was well acquainted with then too. I saw a snake at Epcot last year & my biggest fear is one getting into our room at Pop.

For the record, I've never seen a roach our palmetto bug in our room any of our trips to Disney....

I hate mostly all bugs but would be much more concerned about bed bugs than roaches. You can get rid easily of roaches (even though they're really ugly:crazy2:) but bed bugs are lot more "dangerous" since they travel well and stick to everything linen
IMO

I have never seen one while on my trips to POP. We live in FL too so I know all about them. It can happen to anyone at any resort in any section. I have heard reports of seeing palmetto bugs in other resorts too. I do have to say anytime someone has seen one and posted a pick it was a tiny baby one. Not big flying yet. So yes they can easily slip into a room at anytime. Just part of the FL atomosphere which I feel disney handles very well in accommodating guests for something that is completely out of their control.
