Thank you!

Glad to hear you've had most of your requests granted in August! Great for you! If you don't mind me asking, did you make the requests online or by calling when you did it?

I make requests when I book on the phone. Then I do it online when I check-in as well and do NOT check the box that says something like "Room availability at check in is more important than location." I reiterate my request just about every time I call for any reason. LOL. So much is dependent on the CM who answers the phone.

And just to clarify, I've only stayed at Pop in August twice - the first time, we were put in 80's, and moved the next morning due to my request to 70's. This time (last week), we got our request - perfect room on 4th floor, back-side, quiet, lake view at the end of the hallway - even though we didn't arrive until 2a.m.

I've never had a request not honored in May though. I've even never not been upgraded to Savannah at AKL when booking standard in value season. Maybe not everyone's experience, but it has been mine. Heck, we even got upgraded to MK view after booking a standard at Poly in September, following a very nicely worded fax that I sent the day before (I didn't ask for the view - they just did upgraded me on their own). I've been upgraded to concierge at Yacht Club once.

Anyhow - just illustrating that awesome things happen at the resorts from time to time, and you never know when you might get lucky. But booking standard at values??? Always - I always do this and the worst that might happen is you might have to move after one night - which is no big deal because THEY move you. You just pack up and leave your stuff next to the door.

If all else fails, just say, "Any chance you can make some Disney Magic and find us a room in the [NAME OF DESIRED LOCATION] section?" with a pleading puppy dog look. That line usually works for me. LOL.

We have two reservations for 9/12-17; I had requested adjoining rooms yet somehow only one went thru as preferred and one as standard. I know you can't make changes which lessen your balance; however, I am upgrading my dining AND adding 2days and PH. I'm wondering if I can change my preferred to standard while making the upgrades to park passes and dining. So overall, my balance would be increasing...thoughts?

Also, what's the chance of getting a king size bed??

I will be there September 8 through the 13th. I'm going to be proposing, so I'm very excited/nervous at the same time. Any pointers would be great.

How exciting! I told a friend of mine to do it right in front of the castle...PP persons already there for the picture and you'll have a perfectly beautiful background.

We saw two engagements done before the electrical parade began. There are photographers set up right in the middle to get the castle in the background. Everyone on the sidelines so to speak waiting for the parade witnessed it. What the couples did was the guys pretended that they were just getting their picture taken and got on one knee and proposed. They way the photographer captures the moment. And you have tons of people watching and cheering!! :)

Does anyone know what the weathers been like recently?? Going off weatherchannel.com looks like there has been so much rain... Yes or no?? :scared:

Thanks so much Janet B and Tara8595! It sounds like maybe I should just go ahead and book standard and hope for the best! Like I said, we're completely able to walk the 8 minutes if we need to but would prefer not to. If we don't get what we want, it won't be the end of the world :). We'll just use our savings and get Dessert Party reservations, darn ;)

Getting more excited every day! 8 1/2 months is WAY too far away!

We just returned two days ago. We experienced hardly any rain (compared to other August visits) during our 13 day trip.

18 days for me!! :woohoo:

I requested the 70's section.

Maybe I'll see some of you at the Petals Pool Bar :drinking:

I really hope I get a refrigerator!! I am really looking forward to my first stay here....and I can't wait to walk across the bridge to AOA, which I have never seen!!

53 days until we're at POP....how did 368 days get down to 53 days?! I'm even more excited now...if that's even possible. I just watched the Halloween edition of the castle show. I had goosebumps watching it. Does that make me a geek?? Lol The kids start school tomorrow....days are gonna fly by even faster. I'm so excited...ahhhh!!!!

Do you know what error message she is getting?

Sorry for such a late reply. I was out of town with limited internet access.

She says the error says something about me already being part of the plans and it can't find her. But she shows on all of my reservations. I also checked to make sure she has access to view and change my reservations and she has all along.

Thanks in advance for your help! I hope that makes sense.

So advice done out it on the reservation for anything before you actually ask if your S/O is the type of person who needs to be right beside you at all times. If it is already on the reservation make sure only your phone number is on it and tell him/her to go check out the gift shop while you check in. Do the same for all dinning reservations leading up to the proposal as well. I've heard too many stories of the surprise being ruined when it was put directly onto reservations because CMs sometimes go in to auto mode and just go congratulations or let me get you buttons etc.

(Also sorry if I offended with the him/her I never like to assume these days and I don't know you personally)

i thought buttons for special events were only at town hall in mk? we have a bday and a 1st visit, we can get these at checkin?

Yes. You need to make sure the occasion is on your res and they will hand them to you at check in.

Excellent! I made sure to put them on the res when we booked, DW doesn't really want to wear her's (birthday) but it'll happen :thumbsup2

2 more sleeps until Disney!!! Hoping I get the 70s section although, this resort is not bad to walk through. Excited!!

29 more days until our first POP stay. I can't wait to see my daughter's face. This will be her first visit to Disney and my first vacation is 5 years. Come on 29 days. I am so happy. :yay::yay::dance3:

Building 9 still isn't too bad for this. I was in the corner room on the 4th floor in the wing facing the parking lot last fall, and I found it to be a short and pleasant walk past the playground to the back door of the food court.

I second this. While not the *best* location, it's not bad. We've had connecting rooms at Pop on 3 different trips. Our first stay (and I think *best* location of our 3) was in the 60's section, Bldg. 4, facing the lake. That was a quick walk everywhere and a great view (we could see the Epcot fireworks from our room). On our second trip, we were in the 50's section, building 2, facing the pool. While it wasn't a bad walk to the main building (we'd enter at the side of the building at luggage services -- next to Bldg. 1 in the 50's section), the walk back from the bus stops at the end of the day was looooonnnggg because they are at the far end of the main building. Our 3rd trip (and 2nd favorite location) was 80's section, Bldg. 9. I'll say we had a courtyard view -- facing Bldg. 10 of the 70's section. The walk to the main building was fairly quick when going in the back door of the food court but the most important thing was the walk back to the room at the end of the day was short. We could walk through (or around if using the sidewalk) the parking lot and we were in our room in no time. And we were really close to the (quiet) computer pool. One night we were the only people in the pool for about 30 minutes. I would not be upset if we ended up in Bldg. 9 again.

I always asked our TA to request only connecting rooms on the reservation (we were traveling with 3, 4 or 5 kids on each of those trips) and let the location up to chance. I will say that on trip #3 (when we were in building 9) when we checked in we were originally assigned rooms in Bldg. 2, 50's section again....and those rooms weren't ready for us yet. I was going to request a different location but the CM knew our daughter wasn't feeling well when we checked in so he wanted to find something that was ready so she could lay down and rest awhile. He checked and was able to put us in Bldg. 9...and one of those rooms was ready and the other was being cleaned while we were checking in.
