I'm a bit high maintenance when it comes to pillows. I usually need one between my knees, one under my head, and one over my head - possibly more if the pillows are really soft and squishy. Has anyone ever requested extra pillows in their Pop room? And how are the pillows in general? We're driving, so I can bring one of my own if I need to. But we're already bringing so much stuff!

We always request extra pillows and have never had a problem.

Stacy ... your dates were our original dates until my niece and grand niece were coming along and we needed to switch to the week before as my niece's school district begins before labor day. Luckily I was holding the BB from last year that allowed FD beginning 8/18.

And re AoA ... we feel the same way. It will be nice to walk over in August just to check out the resort. :goodvibes

We were actually thinking of going in the beginning of August but when I read about the crowd level still being high, we said forget it. We always have gone the last week in August when the schools in the south are back in session and I would have hated for my girls to be disappointed at the beginning of August when the saw the crowd level.

Too bad you had to switch your dates. A Dis meet would have been fun!!

The Pop bus stop at DHS used to be one of the best :)...then they moved it to one of the ends :worried:.

Yes, it was our one little park perk!! And then poof!! Me thinks it was Disney exec that didn't feel the POP love!! :teeth:

I know ... but the good news for us is that the Florida schools (at least some of them) are back in session our week (we actually went this time last year due to bringing DD's BFF). :)

And we're around on 8/24 & some of 8/25 to meet any DISers at POP!!!

Everyone has been great answering my question- may I ask one more:

I am expecting to arrive before my room will be ready; If it is ready great, but if not we plan to simply have lunch and relax by the pool. Since there are no towels at pool side can I ask the front desk for some? Can anyone give me anytips for this hanging around the pool before you have a room? Will there be lockers? A changing room? Anything I should consider?

Thanks

Not sure about the towel answer but there is bathrooms, etc. around the pool area where you could change. I would just pack your suits and sunscreen in your carry on.

There was a towel cart right outside of the elevator in building 2 (bowling pin pool) when we were there last feb/march

access to these bathrooms require your room key (need to swipe key to gain access). If the room is not ready yet, I'm not sure the "key" feature of the KTTW will be activated, or if you will be given a KTTW at all. So access to these bathrooms is not guaranteed

As Stacy mentioned, there are changing rooms/showers/restrooms by the pools.

And yes, would ask the front desk at check in where you may obtain towels if your room is not ready.

Also during your stay... often times there are housekeeping carts by the elevators in each bldg ... and always thought they were positioned there for guests to take towels as needed either for their rooms or for use by the pools.

I totally forgot about that, lol! I remember now what a pain it was. There is a bathroom in the lobby though.

Your room might be ready - we did online check-in, and our room was ready when we arrived at 10am. This was the 3rd week of March, so a busy time. If not, I'm sure they will get you towels if you ask. I love the Pop CMs :lovestruc

True, but you are given your KTTW at check-in regardless if your room is ready or not, and the KTTW should be activated to allow access into the bathrooms/changing rooms by the pools. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone. This is my 12th trip to Disney since 2004 when I became utterly hooked. I have stayed at all the mods, AKL and WL. I am so excited to try POP!!! It'll be my 50th birthday and my daughter and I are doing a split stay between POP and Boardwalk...It feels like a complete new destination considering I know nothing about the resorts. That's so much of what I love about Disney...it's a new adventure each time and still more to look forward to.

I bet you're right -- "what is this value resort bus stop doing here?!? Move it to that end!" :faint:

At least I got to use the closer Pop stop one year trying to escape a gigantic thunderstorm. :thumbsup2

Has anyone had any experience at check in with asking for a different room/location? I have had two great rooms at POP, both lakeview ( 60s and 70s). I really want lakeview again, but I am so afraid of 1) being put in 80s and 90s- I just hate those decades and 2) being put near a parking lot.

We are not arriving until 8PM. What has been your experience and if there is nothing left for us how willing are they to change your room the next day?

BTW, I have requested lakeview, 60s.

Yes, last year I had a great experience changing my room assignment, and this was even at the online check-in desk. In fact, it was the CM who asked me if the assigned room met what I had a requested, and when it really didn't, she got the room changed right then and there. I would have accepted what was assigned (ground floor 70's), but since she was so accommodating, I went ahead and got it changed (building 1 ground floor 50's).

We had a similar experience a couple of trips ago. We had requested ground floor in the 1950s section. I did the on-line check-in, so we got in that line to get our room keys, etc. The CM looked everything over and said "hey, we didn't give you what you requested. Let me get you what you want." I said, "oh, that's okay." But he insisted and gave us a few options. We wound up in the 1950s section on the ground floor in Building 1. We really liked our location.
