Pop Century to nearest Walgreens

I will need to get to a Walgreen's from the Pop Century Hotel. Is there one in walking distance from any of the resorts or Downtown Disney? Is there a bus I can get to?
I am new to the boards, so hopefully I am sending this to the correct forum.

There are none within walking distance to any of the resorts. Disney doesnt have sidwalks therefore Disney does not allow walking on any of their properties that do not have sidewalks.

The closest Walgreens that you could walk to but it would be a bit of a hike is close to DTD. It would take 20 - 25 minutes to walk or you could take a cab from DTD.

here is a map to it. You will notice the directions are from DTD to Joes Crab Shack because Walgreens is next door and Walgreens is not marked on the map. But trust me there is a walgreens there. I have shopped there many times

Ugh! My Autistic son runs out of meds while we are at Disney. It is a controlled substance so I can't even call it in. It has to go in person, then I have to wait for it to get filled. Would you send the first cab home and call for a second? I always have a car at Disney Resorts in CA so this is different for me. Thanks!!!

Definitely. You could end up waiting for quite a while and the meter would still be ticking. I'm thinking it's 30 or 40 cents per minute while idle.

The closest one is at the intersection of S International Dr and Rt 192, approx 4 miles, so a taxi should be about $12-$14 plus tip each way. I wouldn't have the taxi wait as they will charge for waiting time, just get the phone number and call another when you're ready to return.

When we travel during refill times I alert our doc to it and pharmacy. If I get a perscription for the short period, say the week, they give me meds at 1/2 the dose but double the amount.

If there is a perscription change, the insurance will cover it and we have enough to cover the time away.

Renting a car for a day might not cost much (any?) more then R/T taxis. Makes sense if you want to do other shopping offsite or even have a meal offsite.

The rules on controlled substances vary with the class of drug and by state.

Insurance companies will frequently allow early refills for people going on vacation. I have no idea if you can do this with the medication your child is taking.

I have no idea if Florida rules are different. I don't know if you can mail the script to the pharmacy mentioned by the PP and have the pharmacy deliver the script.

I have no idea if you can drop off the script at your local Walgreens and just pick up the medication (drive through window) in Florida.

I suggest talking to your pharmacist. First ask about vacation dispensing. Certainly the easiest solution.

This is only partially true. A schedule IV or V substance can be called in (Vicodin, Ambien, etc).

A schedule II or III REQUIRES a physical prescription be presented to the pharmacy.

Since I don't know what the medication is, I cant tell you what schedule it falls under.

My son is on Focalin for ADHD and we had the same issue. I do get 3 months worth of scripts from his doctor at a time and take them in monthly to fill. I did have to call our insurance and request early pick up as they'll only pay for it every 28 days. Just explained we'd be out of town on vacation when it would be time for his refill and they approved it early.

Cab from Best western in May was $7.00 one way meant the Best Western in DTD Lake Buena Vista area

Right, I recall passing by a Walgreens on our way to Lake Buena Vista Outlets from DTD and the ride cost us $14.

I appreciate all your answers and suggestions. Some of you asked the drug name. It is Concerta. I have to bring a script in person as required by his insurance. They only give 30 days at a time. So bringing in an early script would be a problem. I talked to my pharmacy and they said to contact the Walgreen's in Florida. So I am about to do that. I will let you know what they tell me, because this might be helpful to others going through this as well.

Concerta is a Schedule II drug. The requirement for a written script is an FDA requirement not just an insurance requirement.

Check. Depending on your insurance policy, and state, you might be able to get a 60 (90?) day supply via mail order.

Do you have anything else you want to do offsite? Outlet shopping? Grocery shopping? Offsite meal? Renting a car for a day or two might be the way to go.
