Pop Century Splash Area

When did they get rid of the splash area by Goofy? Does anyone know why the jets were taken down?

They got rid of them a while ago. Why? I think because of maintenance issues. When we were planning our first Pop stay it had been almost a year since the most recent report I could find of them being operational, so they were off entirely for at least 2 before the removal work began. And before that they were hit-or-miss at best.
