Anyone have news on what parts of building 5 have been renovated? Have a pool view booked and probably won't get a renovated room. Hope it's not too much of a mess with the refurb activity. I have already looked at the beginning of this thread and know the refurb started in December. just looking for more specific info.

We're going in a week. We usually request 50s and 60s. I like the location and prefer the pool there to the others.
Are the non renovated rooms really in bad shape?
Can't decide between it and renovated 80s or 90s request.
We aren't in the room a lot and do not have mugs or dining plan. We drive some and bus some so we don't have to be close to hall.
What should we request?

So I know this has been talked about and was quite a hot topic for a while....air mattresses. I looked through the thread but was curious to hear from anyone who has used one in the new rooms? Did it fit ok with the Murphy bed down (although I understand part of it may need to slide under the Murphy bed to allow the door to open? )

I cannot confirm where they are working but to date there are not any rooms in building 5 that are complete and re-opened.

Can anyone say if the opt-out option is worth it? Like it easy to get towels on your own? Are there easily accessible trashcans to use to empty out the one in your room? We're staying 6 nights with 2 kids so I'm trying to figure out if it's an option we should even consider.

We did 5 nights. Call guest services and housekeeping will get you the items you need. We had no issues getting towels and coffee for the week. Trash, we dumped once in the can by the elevator. Our time in the room was so limited, it was worth it for the $40.

I'd request 70's lakeview, maybe 60's lakeview, though I'm not sure if building 4 in the 60's would be finished by April since they just started working on building 5 this month.

I have gone through this thread so I am sorry if I missed the answer to my question. Going to WDW on March 3 staying at the POP. Have a preferred room booked, what parts are preferred and done being renovated? Did request a new room when I called. Thinking of doing online check in and asking for first floor in the 70's building, since it seems like the 60's will not be done by then. Thank you for your help.

I was in an old room just as the refurbished started. The carpet was a little worn, but otherwise my room was in good shape and clean. It was a standard view in building four facing the lake.

I really like the new rooms, but I don’t think the resort is overly large, and haven’t minded the walk from the 80’s to food and transportation. If you prefer location over renovation, that’s fine, and you will not be disappointed.

They are just starting the first part of the 60's, 50's will be untouched til after your trip.

Yes - my bad. 80s section. Rubic's cube building. Right where the X is - end room, 3rd floor facing pool. It was a really nice room - not a lot of foot traffic past it at all and a pretty view of the lake.

I stayed in a non refurbished room in early September (during Irma!) and it was fine. Most definitely not as bright and shiny as the new rooms but it was clean and very well stocked.

You should choose the type of room that you want.

The new rooms look amazing but I intentionally chose an old room as I knew it would be my last chance to do so.

I'm in the same boat as you. Arriving in 28 days and would like to request 70s, connecting rooms, but want to know that building is completely done.

Seventies is two buildings, not one. Building 10 is complete and open. At least part of building six should be reopened; see post 2 for specifics.

Request in order of importance, and remember requests are never guaranteed.

2 adults, 2 teens. We stayed in new room last summer. The plan was to have DS sleep on air mattress, DH & I in queen, DD in murphy. There was no way an air mattress would fit in any of the wall floor spaces. There is little floor space at all when the murphy bed is down. None between the beds. Near the door there was not enough room unless you wanted to be under the murphy bed. Since my teens don't sleep in the same bed (different sexes) so the new rooms weren't an upgrade for us. I prefer the old layout where you could move the table and chairs if needed.

Yes, worth it & easy to get supplies. You can ask for towels & toiletries from housekeeping. I emptied trash and left outside door as well as any old towels. The one thing that was bothersome (not bad just a thing to note) was since the new lamenant floor was not being cleaned daily you could feel the grit under your feet. We had a towel down by the sink to act like a rug since it felt dirty coming out of the shower only to step on a gritty floor. But its definitely worth it to opt out.
