Pop Century Room Renovations

Going to Pop for the first time April 28 to May 4. Have a standard room. Will all the renovations be done then? If not what buildings are standard rooms that have finished redone rooms to put a request in for?

Seventies is two buildings, not one. Building 10 is complete and open. At least part of building six should be reopened; see post 2 for specifics.

Request in order of importance, and remember requests are never guaranteed.

Yes, I know. That is why I said I want to wait until it is completely done. Meaning, both buildings.

I have gone through this thread so I am sorry if I missed the answer to my question. Going to WDW on March 3 staying at the POP. Have a preferred room booked, what parts are preferred and done being renovated? Did request a new room when I called. Thinking of doing online check in and asking for first floor in the 70's building, since it seems like the 60's will not be done by then. Thank you for your help.

We did online check-in, then called guest services from the room. Gift card hit my email within minutes.
I'm curious when you stayed at Pop? I tried to call from my room to request the housekeeping opt out/gift card. I was told it could not be done on the phone, and I had to request it in person at the desk. My DD was sleeping at that point, so I waited until the following morning to go to the desk. By then I was told it was too late for me to opt out of housekeeping. Or they were happy to let me decline housekeeping but told me that I couldn't have the gift card because it wasn't entered on the first night of my stay.

If I remember correctly though you were only staying for 2 nights. Is this correct? I'm guessing housekeeping assignments are arranged over-night for the following day so by the time you went to the front desk it was too late to opt out for that day.

I'm not doubing @John Marecek but I will say his is the only report I've personally read of the opt out option being granted over the phone. All other reports I've heard have said they had to do so in person at the check-in or Guest Services. Guessing @John Marecek got an exceptionally nice CM who granted the offer over the phone.

Is there anyone else here who has successfully arranged for the housekeeping opt out over the phone?

Sorry, I've read through but just to clarify, you opt out of housekeeping at the front desk once you arrive? There's no way to do so beforehand? I already did online check in. Thanks. :)

yes, at the front desk when you’re checking in or shortly after you arrive at Guest Services if you don’t have to check in in person.

Do they give you an actual gift card or just an e-gift card?

Can you let me know what your experience is. I'm not certain how and e-gift card would work for me as I don't open my email when I'm away from home. I hope they would put it on a plastic gift card if requested.

I remember reading how they do it somewhere a while back but I can't find that info now. Maybe someone who has stayed recently will let us know the mechanics of how it works. Please!

Will do!

We checked in November 26. I called to ask how we do it, expecting to be told to go to the desk, and the cast member took care of it. He told me if I didn't get my gift card within minutes, then go to the desk and get a hard gift card. Glad I was lucky. At 10 PM after a full day at 2 parks, I didn't want to go to the desk :)

Yes, we were there only two nights. Next time, though, I'm not taking a chance. I'll just go to the desk. :)

Very lucky, indeed! We arrived just days before you (November 21) and didn't get the gift card because I tried to do it on the phone. Not a big deal, though, as it would have been only $10. We were only there 2 nights.

Refrigerator question. Are there refrigerators in the 60s unrefurbished rooms?

Thanks!

Will they ask you at the front desk if you want to opt out of housekeeping or do I have to ask?

I'm staying at Pop 3/24-4/1...I have a preferred room booked, I want to request 60's, has that building been refurbished? Does anyone have an accurate map of preferred rooms? Thank you:)
