Pop Century Room Renovations

I've never done online check in. I've always waited until we got there to check in. Would we have a better chance at a refurb room if we do online check in? Also, how does the room request work on the online check in? It's listed on our reservations. Thanks

If you want a refurbished room then yes, I would recommend you do online check-in. Post 2 of this thread has the current status of the refurbishments.

They are almost 50% done the refurbishments. With many people requesting a refurbished room, I think you'd be more likely placed in a non-refurbished room if you didn't specifically request it. (Not too sure what you mean by 'it's listed on our reservations.' Did you call in a request?)

Whether you do Online Check In or not makes no difference in getting your requests granted.

I booked by calling Disney directly and asked for them to include the request on my reservation.

As long as the section you request during Online Check In is 100% completely refurbished then it can't hurt.

I was lucky enough to get a refurb room when I was there in December, we arrived at 10 am, room was ready by 11, and when I went to desk (even though I did online check in) they knew i was getting a refurb room - I made 70's my request online (knowing only 1 building was open at that point, and fully refurb) and also called to put a note on my reservation. With that being said until the entire resort is completed, there is no true guarantee. When I go back in April I have a preferred room booked instead of standard like in December, hopefully by then the 50's is being worked on and i get lucky again with a 70's room.

We’ll be staying at Pop for the first time this summer. We originally had a preferred room booked. We are now considering changing to a standard pool view (with a request for the 90’s so we can get a renovated room). Pros/cons of the standard pool view over a preferred room?

Just a heads up that pool view rooms can be noisier but as long as that doesn't bother you you'll be fine.

Pro: Preferred Pool View room is really close to the main hall.
Con: Preferred Pool View room is near the Hippy Dippy pool which is the busiest pool and will offer activities (including music and people on microphones) during the day plus outdoor movies at night

Con: The standard pool view room in the 90's is a longer walk from buses and main hall.

We have been to POP several times over the years, but this is the first time with the opt-out housekeeping offer. My question is can I do the online checking and go to the check-in desk to request it?

Yes, that is what I had to do. They didn't mention it, I had to make a request. The gift card will be sent to your phone.

We did online check-in, then called guest services from the room. Gift card hit my email within minutes.

From reading on this forums for about a year, I assumed it was 5 days out.
I'm trying Touring Plans so I just clicked my room, configured my fax, then they send it out around five days out.
