Pop Century Room Renovations

We couldn't hear the music from our room! I think there's always that one trip with neighbours from hell! For us it was at POR. Couldn't believe it. Mom let kids run & scream up and down walkway, in and out of room, slamming door each time, latch was out so door wouldn't shut. They moved in our last day, or I would have requested room change.
I wonder if your POR neighbors were our GF neighbors! Only joking a little because it sounds like the same family. They left the door propped open with the latch and let their kids run back and forth (screaming) from the lounge. Every time the kids left the room, the door slammed against the latch. It was awful. Luckily they left the second day we were there. I was ready to request a change even if it meant moving to an outer building and foregoing CL. I'm so glad we have never had neighbors like them again!

Just did the online check in and requested 90's section near transportation. Should that get me close to the parking lot (to cut across) or should I change to building 8?

I think if you did 90's and then close to transportation. I think the close to transportation they may take to be in any building, such as the 60's. I would change the second to 80's room

Then it's building 6 that I want! I got them mixed up!! Want the lake view, it's quieter I think. I only stayed one night but had the very last room in Centre courtyard of bldg 6 near lake path, it was so quiet, no foot traffic past room. I think it would be even nicer with a view of the lake.
But won't the gondola construction in the lake = not so quiet, and construction worker foot traffic perhaps?

Off Topic a little bit -- so we're going in November and have already requested a new room (hoping for building 9 though as it was a short walk across the parking lot to the buses from there!) However, do we know for sure if the Generation Gap bridge will remain open even while they're doing the construction around there? I absolutely loved to be able to walk across to AoA :)

So I've never really looked into POP before but considering it...So if you walk across the bridge, can you use the pool at AoA? My kids have been wanting to stay there just for the pool and DH and I aren't on board.

No. Sorry. You can't use their pools.

That's our favorite building/view at Pop. We go to bed early so a room in a quiet location (minimal foot traffic or especially, no pool!) is a priority. It's very quiet and peaceful overlooking the lake! We also like building 10. It's pretty quiet on the top floor and there are a few rooms with a view of the Mickey phone. We had one near the elevator with a view of it that was a little blocked off but still a nice view. The room next to us was probably a better view. I was worried that time being close to the elevator would mean more noise but it turned out fine .

It's funny, but I sleep better at Pop than I do at the deluxe resorts. I find them much noiser! The worst night's sleep I've had at Disney was actually at the GF in the main building. A close second is any room at all in the CR tower (the south wing is quieter). And third is BC. Aside from the one time we had a pool view room at Pop, I always sleep very well there. It's part of why I love this resort so much! It might be huge, but it was designed well!
I was there on an 'alone' visit a few years ago and was awakened at 2ish in the AM. I thought there was an animal hurt, there was a god awful howling. I went to the door and looked out but then realized it was coming from the room next door. There was some banging on the wall as well. Turns out the couple were having, ummmmm, lets say a party for two. Apparently it was a good party. If I were in that room I would have been embarrassed to show my face the next day. Other than that I like the quiet of the Pop as well. Very peaceful.

I would have knocked on the door and verified the whole party was ok and asked where the injured animal was. LOL

I'm 31 days out and got my construction letter today. Basically, you will hear no construction noise between dusk and 9am.
We are 33 days out but haven't got a letter yet. I'm assuming it was construction with room renovations? (as you mentioned earlier, we too wished we knew when gondola construction is starting). We are hoping for ground floor, water view (but not if gondola construction).

I'm assuming it was room related, but maybe it's gondola related? I don't know. It really doesn't say anything. It just mentions construction, not the reasons why.

I'm torn over my requests too. We're willing to forgo a refurbished room for a lake view, but maybe not if the bridge is being worked on.

I was there last week and spoke to several CMs at both AoA and Pop. They looked at me like they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about possible dates for gondola construction and possible bridge closures.

I wonder when they usually inform CMs about upcoming construction at their home resorts.

I got the impression that nothing was coming anytime soon, but I guess the powers that be could be keeping most everyone in the dark.

Thanks for asking! I just feel at this point we're not going to know anything until the work actually starts and we hear about it here. I kind of figure the CM's at the front desk won't even know about it, even if it actually is under construction. I was once told, there was no bridge connecting AofA and Pop, but she was sure a bus would get me there. :hyper:
