Pop Century Room Renovations

Cant a local blogger go in there with a measuring tape, video camera, an air mattress, and a weeks worth of gear for a family of four, ... we are only asking that you measure every nook and cranny for us :rotfl2:

I I want the quen bed but i really wish they left some room on the wall between the TV stand and the coffee maker for a porta crib or air mattress.

I did see a hair dryer in the pictures (in a bag).. I always bring my own, though. Those hair dryers take forever to dry my hair!

Have you ever tried the ones that are in the bags? I'm just asking because the ones in the bags at AoA are far better than the ones that used to be mounted on the walls. The one I used last summer at AoA was so hot and powerful that I had to be careful that I didn't burn my scalp. It was similar to the professional one I have at home. My daughter has long, thick, curly hair and it didn't take long at all to dry it with the new hair dryers. The old wall-mounted ones were an exercise in futility for her. I think they replaced all the wall mounted ones a year or two ago.

In the video you can see that the Murphy bed sticks out futher then the regular bed. leaving less space at the foot to put an air bed. I dont know how to screen capture to show yall :(

lol :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Yes I know, but they were usually hidden behind the clothing or whatever I had hanging inside the closet. I don't know... I just don't like it hanging there like that like it's decorative. LOL not a big deal. I don't even know why I mentioned it.
Does it help to know the ironing boards aren't, and never were, hung for decorative purposes but for space efficiency? Maybe try stacking your luggage in front of it?
With Innovabed up, no good place to put unneeded pillows.
What about on the dresser? Or if you don't use them, the shelves inside it?
I am guessing the TV is around a 50", which is WAYYY bigger than 32" now. We need confirmation on the TV and bed size!! Darn you people enjoying your vacation!! Hahaha!!!
Shouldn't that be "darn you people enjoying your vacations without a tape measure!"? :D Now, if anybody is five feet tall, they could lie crosswise on the Murphy bed and see if they fit completely...

I'm glad we have DISboards where we can come and honestly share our thoughts, likes and dislikes without being encouraged to think otherwise!

I really like the new rooms. However, I don't think I want to stay there with the kids even if we have connecting rooms. I'm just not confident that we will have enough storage space. All the cubbies in the vanity area are great, but they're not exactly "clothing friendly". I can see stuff falling on the floor all the time. Maybe at some point someone will measure all of the various sized cubbies and I can then figure out if I can take collapsible fabric bins to use in them (I would totally do that for everyone if *I* was there. :D Maybe someone will be there on a stormy afternoon and have a tape measure handy. lol.). There's also the issue of not appearing to have space for a twin-size air mattress. So for now, I don't think Pop is going to be competing with AoA for our business for quite awhile. I'm a little sad about it.

Just a thought..... I think it would be pretty easy to stuff the extra pillows in a cubby or two in the vanity area. If you're a solo traveler I would imagine there will be plenty of empty cubbies in that area. You could also stuff them in the clear trash bags (there are usually numerous extras in the bottom of each trash can) and then put them under the queen bed.

What a boring, uninspired room. :sad2: If I wanted an all white room, I'd check into a hospital.

None of the major hospitals in my area have white walls in the rooms -- they're all quite "homey" now with comfy chairs, pretty curtains, and softly colored walls. If you checked into a hospital here, it would have more color than the Pop Century rooms (though I still like the Pop rooms).

The closet area.... I'm used to setting up 3 hanging shelves in the old space.... doesn't look possible now How on earth will I keep all our stuff organized? Looking for tips to make the new space work!!

I'm wondering the same thing. I think there's room for one hanging sweater holder/shelves in that closet. I'm hoping many of the cubbies are sizes that a standard collapsible bin will fit in so we can use them as "drawers". But I'm sill not convinced there's enough "convenient/usable" storage space for 4 people in those rooms. I really don't want to look at clothing just randomly stuffed in the cubbies. And I know that no matter how neatly I fold and stack everyone's clothing in the cubbies, they're still going to dig through them and make a mess. :D

LOL! I know... what could they possibly have better to do than be at our beck and call??

I wonder if Pop took any guest surveys before this renovation? Seems there are a few things that are important to people. Although do they allow an air mattress in the room? I'd be suspicious more than four guests were in the room.

More new room pictures. They are stunning! The room feels so much bigger with the murphy bed.

For anyone wondering, the safe is in the dresser (picture below). No more safe keys! Yay!

Also, the bathrooms - WOW! what an upgrade!

More pictures in the post to follow.

Thanks for taking time off your vacation to calm all us anxious Dis boarders who can not wait to get there!
Here is my question, does the beverage center moves?
PS: LOVE your purse!

The last time I was at Pop in 2015, I think they were in the process of removing the mounted hair dryers. We had one in the bag, but I never opened it since I had my own. We always visit family before our Disney trip, so I need to bring my own anyways (and my hair is not used to Florida humidity, so I need all the help I can get!).

Thanks! I know I was anxiously awaiting myself!

The beverage center doesn't move (like the whole unit), but the beverage cooler does a bit. The shelves within the cooler are adjustable. Also the beverage center has a light under one of the shelves and on the top to add even more light to the room (see below)!

I seriously love the rooms. If there was a way to guarantee connecting rooms I'd probably switch from my AoA suite.

what number and when did you call? I tried calling the main number today and I was told they could not help me due to the system being down, although i thought it was only down for making new reservations. I check in tomorrow.
ETA: sorry, i thought i quoted brittanidp, but it didnt work! :)

Ive just posted on the csr thread stating I was trying to decide between pop and csr for our trip next Apr/may.

Pros and cons:

Obviously, budgetary wise we'd be better off at pop.
I don't like the idea of being amongst construction.
Rooms are larger at csr.
Dh would be able to swim & gym at csr.
Rooms look fab at pop.

Please help us decide....
