We're here now. In building 9. I LOVE this room!I hope this is true! If we receive other confirmations we will update Post #2.
If anyone is at Disney now, can you please keep an eye out for Building 10 opening and Building 6 closing? Thanks!!
Rooms marked with a yellow line in the picture below are Preferred View rooms.View attachment 274369
What would be the best strategy? I would like a refurbished room & to not have to change rooms. I have a room only reservation Oct. 8th. Then a package Oct. 9-14.
Edited to add: I just saw that I'm a DIS Veteran!! woohoo!
I was in the same situation with my reservation. First 7 nights package and a room only reservation for my last night. But I called Disney and asked to talk to Guest Service and they have the power to join the one night to my package and made it for 8 nights. ( hope you understand, my English is not good sometimes) just and advice if you want a package Oct 8-14. Call guest services, they can make it.What would be the best strategy? That’s so strange because I read a post on another board from someone who checked in yesterday saying they got a new room in 70’s. Unless they didn’t know what area they were in. I’m so confused. We're here now. In building 9. I LOVE this room!
I have not seen anyone staying in building 10; although, there are guests in building 6 (who I actually would feel quite sad for due to all of the equipment and workers right in front of the building!) At first, I thought 10 was close to done based on the section of rooms we passed on the way to Classic Hall (the preferred L shape nearest Classic). Today, we walked between 10 and 6; there are rooms with equipment, paint buckets, etc. still in them!
We have truly enjoyed POP and even booked a bounce back! My greatest and only complaint is mousekeeping. The service is terrible, and these new rooms will not be maintained if it is allowed to continue.
PassporterWhere did you read this?
I'm staying at Pop at the end of the month for one night only. I'm excited for any alone time with my mom to just peruse and leisurely look, we usually travel with my DD and DH. We've never stayed at Pop but I was wondering how to go about putting in room requests for the refurb, especially now that all the online requests are down? My mom has bad knees so something close to the buses would be best but not as important as the refurb. I booked standard as that was all that was available a few days ago.
this is purely a guess but I'm wondering if this person is staying in a room that begins with 7? They might assume those rooms are the 70's section when in reality those rooms are in the 80's section. That’s so strange because I read a post on another board from someone who checked in yesterday saying they got a new room in 70’s. We always tip for Housekeeping. Do they always come on the fifth day, or is it "around" the fifth day? I want to be sure to leave them a tip.
I want to just leave the envelope out for them. I'm considering leaving a smaller tip for bringing the towels and coffee.
I just don't want them taking a full "bed making, cleaning up" tip on the days they just bring us towels.
Should I leave a "Thanks for the coffee and towels" envelope by the coffee maker? And the Mousekeeping envelope elsewhere, like the dresser? I feel like I'm making this more complicated. Lol.
I am here now. Building 10 has the curtains pulled back. Some rooms look more ready than others. CM told me done by the end of October. Building 6 being closed and started in the next week or so. Buildings are being done in clockwise order with lobby being the last. He thinks another year or year and a half worth of work but we know info and can hit or miss. But looking at the speed of buildings being done he may be the right.
It's the dining area that needs to be renovated. It was a disaster last time we were there. The booth seating was ripped and filthy. It was gross.wait, I think the lobby is cute, I'm not ready for change there!
*takes hundreds of lobby/food court/gift shop pictures on next trip*
