Pop Century Room Renovations

I guess I'm alone in being happy about these changes since it will be only my husband and I traveling for our first trip. There is no way we could both sleep in a full size bed together (we tried when we went to visit my parents last spring and failed). However, a queen sized bed will work wonderfully.

I'm waiting to see a finished room before I decide. We've been going to POP for 10 years and love it there. Being that it really is only 2 of us going now since my daughter is older the new design might be better. 1 bed in the room instead of 2, since I won't have to pull the murphy bed down. We are used to a double since we have one at home. What I'm worried about is the sterilization feel and look of the room. I'm hoping that they do something to color it up or Pop it up.

We have two nights booker there in late September so I'm hoping many of the wings will be finished by then! We are 2 adults and a pack and play so the extra floor space would be awesome!

Work was underway this morning. It looked like exterior doors were getting primed. I saw a teal or turquoise color on the bathroom vanity wall and the bathroom door frame painted orange, if my eyes don't deceive me.

:earseek::earseek::earseek:

Oh my ............ I am beginning to think the white doesn't sound so bad now.

This could be a deal breaker for me ............ hate the color orange.

I plead guilty to saying "I want more color," but this may turn into one of those "be careful what you wish for" kind of things.

Those are bold color choices. I wonder if they will have a different color scheme in different buildings?

It'd be hard to confuse or miss those colors!

Building 9 rooms not made up for guests. Beds not made, fridges open, things strewn around. Must be next to dismantle. All four floors, the wing closest to the parking lot and bus stop.

Maybe the rooms will look a bit like Cabana Bay at Universal

So is the whole 90s building closed right now?

Interesting. Those colors don't seem to go at all with the red, black, and yellow I've seen in pics of the room design.

Is it possible that was some sort of coating? My husband is remodeling our master bath right now and it looks like the entire shower is painted bright reddish/orange. It is actually a waterproofing coat that goes under the tile he is planning to install soon.

Could be. The exterior doors were roughed up earlier and look different now, so I figure they are being primed.

Red, black, yellow are Mickey Mouse colors. I'd tend to think teal and orange are the actual accent colors.
I don't think I will like those colors together. Already not a fan of the color scheme in the pics, but I don't think adding teal and orange would make it more appealing.

I do like teal and orange together, and that seems to be in style at the moment. Lots of hotels seem to be going with that color scheme. But mix it with yellow, red, and black? :scared:

It will be neat to see the final product. Hope most like it.

I just went and looked at some pics/ video of the Cabana Bay rooms and I think you may be onto something! They are very retro-60s and I am suddenly buying the turquoise/orange idea if they do it well. It's not something I ever would have come up with, but it just might work.

Received an email today from Virgin Holidays informing me of the renovations to POP Century during my stay in Oct (I already knew but at least they told me) and the email stated the renovations would be ongoing until 8th May 2018

I called the other day to update our room reservation to the new deal and was told by the cast member, "I need to inform you about renovations at Pop Century during your stay". I asked for details and she said that according to the system it would be external areas only, e.g. not rooms. We check in on August 29th.

Don't know how accurate that is, but if it is right they should be done the rooms by then.
