Check in was quick - there were probably 25-30 groups ahead of me, but I was at the front of the line in less than 10 minutes. One strange thing: there was a CM halfway down the line, sort of scanning the crowd. I assumed he was waiting for the next guest in line, and I'd just missed him saying so. So I started heading that way. When I was about 5 feet from him, he held out his palm (basically looked like a "stiff arm" in football) and said, "NO." Uh okay. Terribly sorry?? But at any rate, the next available CM couldn't have been nicer and I got a first-floor room in the 70's. It was a bit of a walk, as it was the very last one at the end of the building, but the big plus to that was we stepped out the door and had a beautiful view of the lake and the fireworks. :)

The room itself was very nice, and still "new and shiny" looking. We had to call Maintenance the first night because the toilet wouldn't stop running and the sink faucet wouldn't turn to cold (stopped at the "medium" point), but they were there within half an hour and got it all fixed up. I also called Housekeeping for a hairdryer, and I think they knocked on the door in less than 10 minutes. Very impressed! We didn't have any problems with the air conditioning that other posters have reported, but then it was a bit chilly last week, so we didn't really need to use it much anyway. The safe was definitely big enough for my laptop, with some room to spare if I'd brought the royal heirloom jewels. :)

Parking was a real hike, and the only downside I saw to the 70's section. Probably not the best decade to choose if you drive yourself.

The food court was quite good - I had grilled salmon one night which was actually better than the one I'd had (for significantly more money) at Rose & Crown earlier in the week. Beware if you're on Atkins that the cashiers are completely befuddled by a guest trying to purchase ONLY the entree without the standard side items. I had the cheese tray for breakfast a couple of days, and was delighted to find that it included a serving of FABULOUS dill chevre (plus cheddar, pepper jack, carrots and celery, olives, a jalapeno, and a bunch of grapes).

I didn't get to try the pools, because as I said, it was kind of chilly last week (didn't stop lots of folks from using them, though, steamy breath and all!), but they looked nice enough.

Overall, a perfectly acceptable resort for the money, and I will definitely stay there again.

Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Bus service was great(!) - I don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes, and usually it was quicker than that. One time, I was pretty sure we'd just missed a bus, and it was still only 5 minutes or so until the next one. No complaints whatsoever. :)

Glad that you had a great trip! We are going in May and can't wait! I was concerned about the food court and the wait for the buses. But you have eased my mind! We are thinking about staying in the 60's area and will have adjoining rooms as there are six going in our party. This will be the last time our family will be able to do this for awhile and really want to make sure that all goes well! Thanks for the feed back and if I think of any questions, I will definitely ask!:goodvibes

Thanks for the review! We'll be there with our group of 20+ in August! Hope you're ready Tyler!;)
