Howdy guys, I've never stayed on site before so I have yet another question. When is the best time to call and request anything about your room at Pop Century (like we'd rather be in the 50s or 70s building and non smoking room and king bed instead of two doubles) Can you even do this? What are the chances of getting your request granted?

We are looking at staying there this summer too - which are the preferred buildings? (ie - the ones closest to the food court and front of the hotel?)

Thanks!

I know that the preferred building is the 60s building and from what i've heard the 80s and 90s buildings are the worst.

They are the worst because they are the furthest from the food court/main building.

The 60's building is the preferred building (closest to the food court/main building). After that...the 50's and 70's buildings are closest. Then, the 80's building...then, the 90's building is the furthest.

We went to Pop Century last year. I requested the 70's building when I made the reservation and confirmed that my request was on the reservation before we left for WDW. We flew in and checked in at about 5pm. We were put in the 90's building.

My mom had just broken her foot about a month before we went to Disney. We asked them if they could move us closer....and they were able to move us to a room in the 50's building. It was great...

Anyway....everyone has their own taste. If you don't mind a little walking, the 80's and 90's buildings might suit you ok. If you want a preferred location without having to pay a preferred price, I would request the 50's or 70's buildings.

Do you think 9 days in advance would be too soon to call and request this?

Well I have two very high maintenance  girls (almost 8 princess: and 5 princess: ) and after walking all day in the parks, the less walking at the resort - the better! LOL!!

Which icon is the 60's building? It must be the "can you dig it - groovy baby" looking one?

Also - do they have any sort of "fun" novelty thing at their pool(s)? (Like ASMu has the Caballeros squirting across the pool)

We now have completed two stays at Pop Century and each were wonderful.

Last year were were in the perferred 60's building, we were extra lucky and got (without requesting) a first floor room right near the kiddie pool - worked out great with a 4 year old. The 'adult' pool in the 60's section is called the hippy dippy pool and is shaped like a flower, with a couple of flowers that spray out water. The 60's buidlings are the closest to the main hall, that contains the front desk, cafe, etc.

Last week we were back at Pop and had a 3rd floor 80's section room. Sure, it was 'farther' from the main building than the 60's, but not a bad walk by any means. It didnt bother us at all really.

The advise I have gotten on these boards is to fax the resort about 3 to 4 days prior to arrival and list your top 3 preferences. I of course knew this, but in the hustle and bustle of getting ready totally forgot to do so.

I had heard that the resort was sold out during the time of our stay, and it seemed to be that way. As there was alot more people around than last year. While checking in I asked if there were any choices between rooms, and the time there were not.

We completely enjoyed our stay and would stay at Pop again with no hesitation.
