Is the 1950's building considered a preferred section? My mom (a '50s baby!) really wants to stay in the '50s. I'd like to request it, but if it's going to cost more, I won't worry about it. Thanks!

We were just there last month. We stayed in the 60s section which is all preferred. When I was deciding whether or not to stay preferred or not I ran across a map that listed what was preferred and what was not. It showed that some of the 50's section is considered preferred but not all of it.

Part of it is, but not all. If I were staying in a non-preferred room, that's where I would want to be too. Good luck!

We stayed in the 50's once (not preferred) and it was very cute. Just put in your request when you make your reservation and you've got a good shot at getting it. :)

I know the preferred location is close to the buses and dining hall, however, what about the hourglass lake ... overlooking the lake seems like it would be a great location ... is this considered preferred? Thanks.

Hello,

I'm not sure if it is preferred, but I would pay the extra if it is. We stayed in the 90's building which is not preferred and boy the walk was long. And it seemed to get longer as the week went on. We loved POP except for that walk. We will probably go back there on our next visit and will ask for a closer building even if we have to pay more.

Just a thought...

Have FUN:banana:

Ready for this? From the FURTHEST corner of Buildings 7 (80s) and 8 (90s) to the center of Classic Hall - using the roof drop as the center - is 750 feet. And, given that the park buses pick up on that end of the building, and that Everything Pop is at that same end of the building... you're CLOSER to those desirable points than you would be if you were in at the furthest corners of Buildings 1 and 2 (50s). Perception is an interesting thing, don'tcha think? ;)

We stayed in 90's, facing the pool, fairly close to the parking lot. We found it VERY convenient to cut through the parking lot to get to the busses. It was a lot quicker than following the pathways. I realize that the pathways, however, are more scenic!!!

Rooms overlooking hourglass lake are not preferred. I guess Disney and guests consider nearness to bus and food court preferred but not a view. We stayed in 70's last Dec. facing hourglass and it was standard. Of course with the size of the room and window you don't exactly have a panoramic view of anything.

We had a pool view in the 50's section in a corner room right behind the Lady Statue. The perfect location for non-preferred price. The only thing better would have been ground floor. We were close to the elevator and very close to the main building. I'd request this location again. I loved POP even though were are kind of used to the deluxes. It was just me and the kids and we had such a good time there!

Brooke1 - great map! We're headed for Pop on the 25th, staying in a preferred room. We were there last year in Bldg 4 (also preferred). Now I have a much clearer idea of where our room might be. I always wondered which rooms were and weren't preferred.

Thanks again. I'm really excited! :thumbsup2

When we went in April, we could only book a non-preferred room. We ended up getting a room in the 60's building overlooking Hourglass Lake. Our room was on the corner on the far end. It couldn't have been a more perfect location! If that's a Non-preferred room I wonder where a preferred room is located ;) . If we go back to POP I most definately want to request that same room. It was the best! You could see the fireworks perfectly, and the view of the lake is just beautiful!
