Pop Century Preferred Room

I have two preferred rooms booked for the first week in March at Pop. My family REALLY wants the new queen beds. All I can glean from the internet is that they are still working on the 70's section. Even if I request a room in that section, I'm afraid I'll end up with a preferred in the 50's in an old room, double beds, because 60's won't be done, and that rather limits the availability of the preferred rooms. I'd rather have a remodeled room, even if it's in the 80's or 90's. I asked my TA about downgrading, she said there's nothing available.

Now I'm wishing I hadn't booked preferred! Any advice appreciated.

I would just request a refurbished room. 70's preferred rooms will be done and maybe some 60's preferred rooms will be done by March.

Try to keep in mind that until they are totally done, even if you request a new room there is no guarantee you will get one.

Preferred rooms are in the 50's, 60's and 70's buildings, if I am correct. Refurbished rooms include 90's, 80's and half of 70's right now. If I request a remodeled room in the 70's section, my chances of getting it are probably slim.

This is why I just downgraded my preferred room to a regular room for our March trip. Saves me a bit of money and hopefully ups my chances of getting a refurbished room. We didn’t stay preferred last trip and our location was still great so I’m not really sure why I even booked preferred this time!

queen beds in those tiny rooms - boy looks like I need to go back to Pop just see these rooms.

Been three times. It is tight.

No more than 18" between the two beds, so yes you may hold hands while sleeping apart. A couple feet from bed to dressers, and beds not lined up, so yes you may end up with bruised shins. But I have no use for floor space so I appreciate the queen beds. Just watch where you are going.

NOW if you only need one bed, the other can be up and you have room for twirling.

Did you use a TA? Did you just book a new room, and then cancel the old? I asked about re-booking and was told nothing was available, but found rooms on the Disney site myself. I need two!

I booked and modified myself, no TA. There wasn't anything available but I kept checking and Boxing Day morning a regular room popped up so I snagged it. I was able to just modify my existing booking online. It's the same reservation number but it shows a regular room now instead of preferred.

so these are murphy beds?

This is the space between the permanent bed (left) and murphy bed down (right).

You can see the Disney brochure on the nightstand to give it some perspective.

Thanks so much! I have two standard rooms now. Fingers crossed.
