Hello! Question for all of you (especially those who have stayed at Pop Century). Do they take the luggage to the rooms for you? If not do they have carts available? We will be traveling with two small children and getting the luggage to the room in such a large sprawling resort is concerning. Let me know please. Thanks!
Lesley

I have a RELATED QUESTION:

We are planning to drive part-way on Friday and arrive on Sat. However, if all goes well with the kids we may end up going the whole way to Orlando.

In that case:

1. Do you think we might get 2 rooms at POP at the last moment?

2. Would they take our bags for us to BoardWalk the next day?

Pop Century is not as sprawled out as some might think. However, yes, we do offer Luggage Assistance. Upon arrival, you can give your luggage to our Luggage Assistance team. Your luggage will be automatically delivered to your room within the hour of your room becoming available. You don't have to be in your room, so you can even head off to the parks, and your luggage will be waiting for you upon returning to your room.

The night before you check out, give Luggage Assistance a call, and they will schedule an appointment for your luggage to be picked up the next morning.

If you prefer to do it yourself, we do have luggage carts available to borrow for free... just stop down to the Luggage Desk with a room key to sign one out.

Friday and Saturday nights are usually VERY busy, and often times at 100% occupancy. It's certainly possible to walk in and get a room, however, it's best to call first, just to make sure.

And yes, we can take your bags to the Boardwalk the next day. Just let us know upon checking in that you want to set up a luggage transfer for the following day, and they will call Luggage for you.

Thanks for the response.

I hope you check this thread again because I have a question that I hope you'll answer as an insider.

Regarding tipping.

When do CM's expect to be tipped during the luggage process?
Unloading from car?
Delivering to room?
Both? (Most DISers seem to tip only upon room delivery.)

Also: Picking up from room?
Loading car?
both?

Do valets expect to be tipped when car is dropped off or just picked up?

Thanks for your help. I want to do it right.

Being a value resort, Pop Century has Luggage Assistance. Because it's a scheduled service, and not an on-demand service, it is not a tipped position, and a tip is neither expected nor neccessary at any point. However, should you feel the services warrant, they are allowed to accept a tip.

Bell Services, which can be found at Moderates and Deluxe resorts ARE a tipped position, and should be tipped both when you drop off the luggage, and when the luggage gets delivered. (It will be a different person that does these things)

At the deluxe resorts that have Valet parking, you should tip both when you drop off your car, and when you pick it up, since it will be a different valet each time.

Thanks Tyler, I appreciate your answers to all of the Pop questions. You have made planning this vacation fun, I love reading through your FAQ's regarding the resort.
I have one more though, is Pal Mickey available to purchase at the Pop Century gift shop?
Thanks!

We don't have reservations at POP. We're driving on the 21st and are planning to stop off in S Ga or N Fla that night. But if the trip goes well and we make it to Orlando we may call over to POP and see if they have two rooms -- we've got 5 kids. That would be nice because they can deliver our luggage.

We're staying at Boardwalk Villas on the 22nd thru the 30th.

Looks like we'll miss you by a couple of days. Have a great time!
