POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

DD is curious if there are any teens in "our group" of POPers.
SHe is 14 (freshman) and knows that few HS kids take vacation like 2 weeks after starting the school year. LOL
Hi. I'm 15 and I'd love to hang out with your daughter. =]
I will be at Pop from the 20th-26th. I will be with a friend and her 16 year old daughter. Is there room for anymore? I am confused on if this is where to ask because there are so many posts on other things. Is there a link on just the party?
Thanks,
Brenda
Welcome to the GLOW! Party... :) :) :)

were at the beach right now
How very precious!

Disneybren, this is the right place. Just jump in! Not sure what time folks will start arriving at the pool area on the evening of the 22nd. Many of us will swing by after dinner, fireworks, etc. There are a few getting together on the 24th to watch Fantasmic at Disney Studios. The most important things to know are plan to have lots of fun, where something lime green and deck yourself out in anything that GLOWS!

Thank you I was so confused and I think this should be lots of fun. I love te boards and it will be wonderful to meet other people from the boards.

Christine- I'm so jealous! But Aniella looks like she is having a blast!

Jenni- Matt actually LIKES the princess meals! In fact, going back to the castle was the one meal he insisted on! LOL!

Brenda- :welcome: to our craziness!!!!

Hi. I'm 15 and I'd love to hang out with your daughter. =]

Thanks BabyPiglet & minnieand me for replies regarding teens - looks like newbie Brenda has a teen as well and I bet there are others.
DD was envisioning 20,000 preschoolers running around WDW. LOL :lmao:

Even though DH & I go on all the dark, loopy or scary rides, I understand how it can be more fun with a peer (couldnt convince any of her friends to ditch school this year).

We are debating about bringing the laptop. Read the threads with pros & cons and still cant make up our minds whether its worth lugging for use on plane & downloading pics. :confused3
We dont know yet if she will need it for homework. Our school policy states make up work must be given AFTER vacation but typically a few teachers will dance around that.

Can anyone confirm the POP room safes fit most laptops?

Morning...

Aries I agree with utahwendymama - those toes are so precious, print them in black and white and frame them!!

Laptops - dh took his laptop one year, and I thought dh needed ice in his nalgene bottle... which naturally sweated onto the laptop - after 4 days (and lots of panic from me, as well as dh!) he got it to work - so I'll add that warning... :rolleyes1 (and I didnt realize the laptop and water were in the same section...)

We stayed at POR and it fit, but barely - I would pose the question on the resort board - lots of people look over there and know stuff!! DH does bring his to download the pictures - many times I think its just a hassle, but he likes that part, and then dd can watch movies if she choses not to go to the fancier restaurants..

I know what you mean about rides and the dd - we do what she wants, but I'm sure she would enjoy it more with a peer once in awhile instead of her boring old parents all the time!!

Seems I am always catching up. Got home from the funeral late last night and found that a fellow DISer and dear friend's mil just passed away. We met under very odd circumstances, magical even, and I am not sure why we were meant to meet but maybe for the fact that I knew to get her mil into Hospice? For that alone it is a good thing.

DisneyMom5, I am so sorry to hear about your sil. I hope that all came out alright and she will be good to go, even if a bit slow, for your upcoming trip.

aries1980, what an adorable little girl! I second that emotion on the toes picture. It is a work of art and just like your daughter, so precious and innocent as well as lovely. :)

I am running behind on so many things. Guess I am getting the important things done but doubt I will do much decorating etc.

Would someone let me know what I can bring to the meets? I think I have scheduled to possibly be at all of the Sept ones. I will have a car so I can go pick up stuff last minute if need be. My husband has 'issues' so I am at the mercy of his mood of the day though. Most of the time he is a happy camper at DW. As long as there is food and someone to talk at he is content. :thumbsup2

Reading the Pop thread on resort board - found out the doors are indeed magnetic - and some people take the Lime Green Mickey Heads (ie LGMH) and add a magnet to the back for the doors...

Mugs someone measured that the mugs held 2 cups - and the bigger looking mug did NOT hold more than 2 cups!! Frozen coke machine goes "down" while it is trying to make more frozen coke - ie over use, it has to cycle..

No towels at the Pool??? (people bring towels themselves!) Mousekeeping is great about bringing you extra towels, and often the cart of towels is near elevators on your way to the pool!!

Welcome Back SG/Linda I asked about you a few pages back!! It sounds like a come as you are party!! I think Kelli is trying to make the Glow juice as simple as possible, vodka and OJ (?) and some are bringing juice for the non alcohol crowd - as well as a few are thinking snacks - I think Kelli suggested we could get snacks at Everything Pop food court as well - just keep it simple -

Looking forward to sitting and chatting as well!!

Christine... Your daughter is adoreable! I love the sandy feet pic- how cute ;)
What beach are you at? We will be going to Daytona after we leave Disney, Just for a couple days to unwind.

We will be at MNSSHP on the 21st- Did I say that already LOL:woohoo:

We are the jersey shore _Ortley Beach to be specific. Aniella's been here a week and will be here another week until labor day. Shes staying with my parents her geema and pop. I only came this weekend because Im and school and Dh is working and I have 10 animals at home that need to be taking care of LOL... I'll come on day next weekend but she got a whole 16 days here!!

Can anyone confirm the POP room safes fit most laptops?
I dont believe so I think there rather small I bring mine and I lock it in my suitcase and keep the suitcase in closet area.

eeyore45, "Come as I am"?? Well considering that I am a 59 year old grandma who spends her life teaching children to read, taking care of grandkids and a husband who is Mr. Magoo's close relative AND reads a book a day, has a ribald sense of humor, does not wear shoes unless absolutely necessary and is a font of totally useless information I doubt that I could do otherwise. Thank you so much for the welcome back. It is appreciated.

I will PM Kelli and see if I can help in anyway.

Slightly Goofy/Linda (who is sooo looking forward to meeting you ALL!!)

Re: teenage girls -- my dd is 13.5. Actually, considering I have seven kids from 1 to 13, I probably have a kid that is the same age as any of the kids you might bring. :rotfl:
DD loves to chat, especially about WDW.
Not sure how late my kids will be there, going to have to play it by ear. I am hoping to at least make an appearance, but might have the whole crew there around 9 pm. See how long they make it. That's a lighter day for us, so there might be hope.

Re: My SIL with the injured knee - nothing broken, but may be soft-tissue/ ligament issues. Will see the doc this week. She's feeling down, but we're assuring her we can work around it.

I just realized that the Disboards have another member named Disney5Mom. So if you see her, it's not me.
I was cruising along and thought "I don't remember posting that." That's because it wasn't me! LOL
Have to read those screen names more carefully! ;)

Planning on hitting the packing with a vengance this week. Have to locate the "van activity box."

Have a great week everyone!

DisneyMom5, my grandson (16) is going to be heartbroken if a bunch of lovely teenage girls show up at the party where I am and not he.

Hope you find the van activity box. Mine included handcuffs and gags. Worked pretty well too. Failing that I suggest earplugs for yourself. :thumbsup2

Linda - you are so bad! LOL

I'll have you know my children are perfect! No need for the behaviorial modification tools. LOL :rolleyes1

And, for the record, my dd13 is not allowed anywhere near 16 yo boys without an armed escort. ;)

DisneyMom5, I am so sorry. I was assuming that your children would be chips off the block and be about as ornery as yourself. I am so sorry I am wrong.

BTW, the 16 year old boy in question would be alright. He calls his grandma almost everyday and is good looking to boot. Of course, the only reason he calls me is that he does not know anyone else who is allowed to talk on the phone that late at night HOWEVER he lives in Indiana, far from you so that is safe. On the other hand, my son is now married to a long distance relationship from his youth. Hey, we would be inlaws, someday, a looooong time from now!! :thumbsup2

Slightly Goofy (who is so old that she remembers when seat belts were first made mandatory and loved them cause they kept her kids from being able to reach each other!) :rotfl2:

lovemickeyshouse, I was curious and since I have family in Philly, I did a search of the radio station you work for. I was not able to find info on your show.

Since I used to be a DJ, way back in the day, I thought it interesting. Somehow I think of you as being very young.

SG/Linda

I love the last line Linda!

Well, on a somewhat somber note, we've decided NOT to do MNSSHP. Sad, but with all of the vehicle repairs from DH's accident (a no fault, liability only), we could use the extra $ elsewhere. Hey, we still get to go to WDW, that's all that matters, right! Anyway, I have a ressie at CP that night. If anyone would like it, let me know!

aries1980, yep I found the station just not his show. I was interested in what kind of show it might be.

aksunshine, everyone loves my last lines cause I have so many that come before. I type fast and am verbose.

Oh, they have their naughty moments. That's when they take after their dad. LOL
Speaking of...I don't trust those nice boys for a moment. Dh's mom thought he did no wrong, and he was a little terror. Good thing I was attracted to his dark side. He really is a good boy, just with evil tendencies. :rolleyes1

AND...I live on the border with Indiana. NOT far enough! :sad2:
Look us back up in about 10 years. LOL

I love seatbelts too. And the fact that with a 15 passenger we have a little freedom to move around assigned seating if they are not getting along.

And they wonder why I love staying onsite and using the buses. After two days in our van, we are ready to let someone else drive! Sigh.
