Hi gang. 42 days for me. I'm curious...has anyone received their ME tags or travel documents yet? When I get mine I'll be sooo excited. Also, if anyone knows anybody who will be at POP from Sept.29th through the first 2 weeks of October, I'm in a fridge swap that needs that spot filled. Thanks. Laid back day for me and the kids today...going to the Pool and frozen pizza for Dinner. I should be walking to get ready for the 15 miles I'll be walking at WDW each day but I'm feeling like a slacker lately. So it's gonna be sun, a big drink, my IPod and a magazine for me today.

Hey Becky...is it cold in AK even in the summer? I'm just curious. If so, you'll be craving the warmth of Fl. huh?

My mom is only going because we talked her into going with us. This will be her first trip. She wouldn't have a CLUE how to plan.

We didn't travel much as kids, and when we did it usually involved seeing far away relatives. So I had seen Colorado and Maine, and bits of OH.

My ILs hate planning things (SIL didn't even plan her own wedding, MIL and I did that too!) So by default, being the WDW lover and obsessive compulsive planner, I inherited the job. Which I am so glad for, as I like being in the driver's seat for this type of thing.

I haven't even discussed many of our details with my Mom, because she has been generally un-interested. She doesn't even know where we are dining.
Not that it would matter. She is basically just along for the ride.
I only hope we don't wear her out big time going on such a long trip for her first trip.

I think there is a 12 step group for this kind of thing somewhere....

I'm down to 44 days! Wooo Hoo I haven't got anything in the mail yet, but I just paid in full yesterday so I'm sure it'll be a week or two before I get anything. I'm there the 22nd-6th but we requested a fridge already. I'll keep you posted if I hear of anyone from any other threads that are looking for a fridge.

Yes, Alaska is cold in the summer. I grew up in Idaho & the first year I met my DH (then boyfriend) and he brought me up here for the summer I cried everyday *seriously*. I love warm weather & love water sports & being outdoors. The average summer temp up here is 55-60 degrees and it rains A LOT! It rains over 100 inches a year, so as you can imagine, if you are outdoors then you are most likely having to deal with the rain. I know that makes it sound horrible up here, but it really does grow on you and the days that the sun is shining (all 10 days a year LOL) are so worth dealing with the crappy weather beacuse it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Okay, that totally just sounded like a plug for Visit Alaska But if you guys want to see the community I live in during the summer you can look it up online. It is www.gustavus.com. There are 400 year round residents, no police, kind of a cool, artsy community. But trust me, after a summer up here I am always sooooo ready to get back to Portland & to civilization. We just come up here because we were lucky to receive property from my DH's family for our wedding & he grew up here so it's home to him & he can't go that long without visiting.

So, I'm not sure if we have talked about this or not since we started this thread, but let's talk about what the first thing is we have to do when we get to WDW.

Our family--the first thing we always do after we get checked in is go to Magic Kingom. There is nothing more special to me then walking down Main Street & seeing the castle. I know I am probably going to bawl this year (yes, I'm a crybaby...) since this is our first trip with Hunter.

We always try to do Epcot first. No particular attraction, just Epcot so we can see the big ball as we drive up. It was the first WDW park I ever went to, on our honeymoon, so we try to always go there first.

Our first day is gonna be more laid back. Once we check in and go to our rooms, we'll walk around the resort for a little bit. Gotta take some pics after seeing the Pop resort board. Then we'll go to ESPN for dinner. If it's not too late, maybe either go for a swim or watch the fireworks. We'll get up bright and early Sat and head to MK.

First let me say.. Becky... Can we PLEASE come up an visit you for a few days one of these summers My DH has been trying to get me up there for years


Our first day @ WDW... heading straight for Epcot EMH. A nice dinner at San Angel Inn, watch Illuminations then off to bed. This is our daughter & Godson's first trip to Florida so after the 8 hour flight, I think they might want to sleep but then again, they are teenages so it could be a looooooooooong night

Say...your dates are the exact same as mine! Are you going to watch Fantasmic with us on the 24th? R'nR will be down for refurb but I'm game to see how many times in a row we can go on ToT.

Our first day after we check in to Pop on the 22nd, we'll be heading over to Magic Kingdom for mine and the girls first ever look at the Castle and then we'll take the monorail over to Chef Mickey's for dinner ressies at 5:00 pm so the kids can see Mickey on their first day and first time at WDW! I'm just as excited to meet the mouse as they are!!!
