We were staying at Pop Century in the 80's section. After dinner we decided to go swimming at the computer pool (about 8:30pm). My 4 year old daughter was very excited and went to get one of the yellow life jackets to wear. She came back to us and fell right off the step that goes all around the pool. I had not even noticed the step until a few seconds before my daughter fell. She fell quite hard on her knees and I had to bring her back to the room to get one of them to stop bleeding. Needless to say, she was no longer in the mood to swim, but my husband and 8 yr old son did. We sat on the lounge chairs and watched them.
About 30 minutes later I noticed a tall man carrying his son from the pool to the lounge chairs to get his towels. I cringed as I watched him, because I wasn't sure that he saw the step...............and he did not see it. He almost fell with his son in his arms, but thankfully managed to catch himself.
My question is - Has anyone else experienced such falls at this pool? This seems to be a serious design flaw, especially at night. Why do they have this step?
My husband and son stayed at Pop Century last summer and used the other 2 pools (bowling pin and hippy dippy) and neither has this design flaw.
We visit Disney several times each year. This is the first serious problem we have encountered. We love Disney and will continue to visit.
This was our first visit with our newborn son (5 months). Not as much sleep as we are all used to, but still a great time. My son even got picked to be temporary Ruler of the Realm by Merlin at the sword in the stone, which made his week!!
