I'll be staying at pop century in February and have heard that it has the best bus service of all the value resorts, is this true? Also what building would you suggest I stay at to be closest to the bus stop?

Thanks for the help!

The bus stops are right at the front of the resort. I loved Pop's bus service. It is a great, clean, festively decorated resort. We didn't have any problems getting to any park when we set out. There might be a short 5-10 minute wait at times on EMH days (we went early Dec) but it was great weather and perfectly acceptable. We were in the 60s building on the back side and were facing the fireworks at night. Took us about 3 minutes to walk to bus stop through the Hippy pool area. It was fantastic! :thumbsup2

I have stayed in both the 60s and the 90s. The 60s is a shorter walk but cost more per night. The walk from the 90s was not bad though. Assuming money is an issue, I choose the 60s when the kids come along as there is always some reason to run back to the room. When its adults only, i save the bucks and stretch the legs.

BTW - Pop does have the best service as they have direct service unlike the other values. This will change when art of animation opens but that will be way after your trip

Depends on the type room you have reserved. I prefer standard rooms and have never had to walk more than 5-7 mins to the buses. I have had a room close to the food court (the one time I had a preferred room) and it was about 3 mins to the bus stops.

We've stayed at ASMo's twice and stayed at Pop last year, and while I really do like ASMo's much better. We'll be staying at Pop again next year, just because of the bus service. The bus service at ASMo's for the most part, wasn't horribly bad or anything, but the service at Pop was awesome. We went during the same time of year, and never waited more than 5 mins. for a bus going to or from Pop.

I'm so glad to hear this. We are staying at the Pop in October. Can't wait!

I think Pop has the best bus service of all the resorts -- not just the values. We've stayed at most of the resorts at all levels and Pop is just superior. At Pop, we have always been assigned to the 1950s section, which we like. It's never been more than about a 7 minute walk even from the furthest 1950s building. I just wouldn't stress about which section you get.

Enjoy!

Pop Has the best bus service all all, as it's the only hotel (I believe) that does not share bus's with other hotels. (for now - it will share with art of animation) the other values all share bus (goes from 1 to the other to the other) and most if not all of the mod's & Deluxes all share within thier same category.

We stayed @ pop last april/may and had no problems at all. are staying @ pop again in Dec. I think it takes like 10 min's to walk from one side of the POP resort to the other. You could drag it out to 15-20 if you wanted to "stroll" :)

I have stayed several times @ the mod CSR and hated thier bus service.

I guess we're in the minority. We HATE Pop transportation, especially at park closing.

We have stayed at all the values.

We were there during free dining and we are night owls. We would often head towards the bus stops an hour or more AFTER late night EMH had ended. The All-Stars bus lines were nonexistant by then and the POP lines were still HUGE.

This was not an isolated night either. This was 4 different times during the week. About 1:30 am leaving Epcot on 1 occasion

About 2:00 am leaving MK on two occasions.

About 11pm leaving the Studios on 1 occasion.

You see All Stars can split up into 3 seperate bus stops and effectively load SIX buses at once if need be. There are around 1900 rooms per All-Star.

Pop Century has approximately 2850 rooms and only has ONE bus stop, so the most they can load is 2 buses at once.

In addition, while this can be a bad thing at the All-Stars, they are often full with youth event groups and a lot of those groups use their own buses to travel as the chaperones want to keep them together. So that also eases the burden on the Disney buses.

You are definitely not alone, as we had the exact same experience. We have stayed at POP once and ASMu twice and ASMu was by far superior. Smaller resort=less wait time. And the bus sharing at the Allstars some people are concerned about really doesn't happen all that much....we only had that happen maybe once or twice in 2 week long trips.

After staying at both and comparing the two, the bus service was a big factor in why we chose ASMu for a second try and not POP.

Take care:goodvibes

CSR has IMO about the best bus service I've had, even end of night usually only had to wait for a second bus at most. Usually they were pretty close to park exit also. POP pretty much seemed to be just about as far away as possible. . POP wasnt bad at all, but again, it's going to be hit and miss. And the mods dont share with each other, unless you count POFQ/POR as sharing. CBR doesnt share with anyone, CSR doesnt etc. Actually more of the deluxes share then anything as far as buses go.

True, the moderates don't share, but moderates have 4 - 8 internal bus stops and that is as bad as sharing.

When DH and I stayed at Pop it was probably the WORST bus service we've ever experienced on WDW property. I had read reviews and was excited when everyone said what great service they had. Well, it certainly wasn't the case when we were there!

I have stayed at POP at least 5 times to date...at all times of the year, all types of crowd levels. Yes, there have been times when it took 3 buses before I got on one. But, that's happened at POR as well. There have been plenty of times it has taken 2 buses before I got on when staying at an Epcot resort.
The vast majority of the time, POP has good service. It is, again, the ONLY resort that does not stop the bus once you get on. There...is that a better way to put it? Whenever this subject comes up, those who love the moderates come along and tell us that those resorts don't share a route. BUT they do have multiple stops within the resort..which takes up time. And those resorts hold a lot of people, so the numbers are close.

No one resort is always going to have perfect bus service. Don't choose a resort based solely on it's transportation options. If you do, you are sure to be disappointed at some point. They all have issues.
