Pop Century bed quality?

Hi,

We're debating between Coronado Springs and Pop Century (thanks to the August discounts) and were debating the plusses and minuses of each. One concern we had was reading reports of the "Motel 6" quality of the rooms at PC. Are the beds also lower quality? We have some back problems so beds are a priority.

Thanks,

Mark

We were at PC for one night and then CSR for seven. The beds at PC were definitely harder than at CSR. I have back problems and needed the softer mattress that was at CSR. We did enjoy PC, but I don't think my back could take many nights on that bed.

We stayed 6 nights at PC and I didnt have a problem with the beds. After long days in the park and on my feet I slept GREAT. I truly compared PC more to a Comfort Inn than a Motel 6. It was a great place to stay in my book.

One thing. Read up on CSR. Many folks do not like the spread-out layout of the place and find it has too much hiking around. PC is very condense and easy to get around.

Back to your mattress ? .... It all depends I guess on what you are used to sleeping on. I found it no issue!

Enjoy your trip whatever you decide!:sunny:

Mark,

I've done a liittle research about WDW resort mattreeses because I have Lupus, and I need a softer mattress in order to stay mobile. Hotel beds can be pretty hard!

So before making reservations, I called WDW and asked about the beds at the different resorts. I told the cast member why I was looking for the info. She was very happy to assist. She called several resorts while I was on the line with her. Per this cast member, all the resorts use the same mattresses. I was quite surprised to hear that the Grand Floridian used the same mattresses as AsMu!

If you want a great mattress then consider the Swan-Dolphin. The "Heavenly Beds" at Westin Hotels are fabulous. You might be eligible for the nurse/teacher/govt rate... about $149 per night, sometimes less.

If you're on a tight budget, the Sheraton Safari now has the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper mattresses (very similar to the Westin Heavenly Bed) and people are reporting rates around $55 per night on Priceline. The Safari is just minutes from DTD. Not as convenient as staying on-site, but the great bed might be worth the inconvenience. It would be to me!

i slept like a baby at pop century and i am a snob about beds...

Just returned from Pop. I currently have either a strained back or a herniated disc. I found the beds very comfortable and my back felt good when I got up each morning.

We spent 5 days at pop. At around the third day I had a very stiff neck. We went to the dolphin for 8 days after that. After one day I was back to normal. We have two feather beds on our bet at home so I'm used to a soft bed.

Just to add something in --

Although each resort will use the same brand & model mattress, keep in mind that each bed's mattress will be of a different age, and different stage of being worn in. That's why some will appear more stiffer than others.
