Hi all,
My boyfriend and I just booked our first Disney trip together for October at Disneys Pop Century Resort This is his first time going ever and I want to make it extra special for him. Any ideas on what I could do? I know he won't get the full experience due to Covid but I truly want to make it memorable for him. Any input would be much appreciated!! Thank you in advance... p.s. his mom has been hinting for me to have a white dress packed and for my nails to be done...I think I might be getting engaged!! :)

Thank you so much! I will definitely try to email them I’ll get back and let you know if he’s still there and if they were able to do anything for me! Thank you again :)

Decorate your window for Halloween! Lots of folks at POP will decorate windows for various celebrations.
If he's the type that would appreciate something like that, schedule wake up calls - they're done by Mickey and friends :) I know it's for kids but hearing one of the fab 5 first thing in the morning makes me smile!

POP has a free scavenger hunt (ask for the sheet at the front desk). It's a really fun way to tour the property and see all the theming.

And hopefully congrats will be in order!! :) :)

I agree with the window decorating, and maybe ordering his favorite drinks and snacks from Instacart or another grocery service.

I don't have any specific ideas, but I had a nice email conversation with the GM at Pop Century after we stayed there two years ago. Assuming it's the same guy, he seems to respond regularly to emails - his name is Jeff and his email is WDW.GM.PopCentury@disney.com. Maybe he and his staff would have some ideas for you!

What would the GM of the hotel be able to add to the ideas already given. Daily nearly every guest at Disney is celebrating something. They can’t pixie dust everyone! This is kind of silly to suggest OP email the GM for ideas, not to mention the GM honestly has so much more to deal with during these times. Bad advice IMHO.

I agree with you on this. I would be annoyed if I was the GM and got emails like this. These types of things are supposed to be surprised or Pixy dust. Not something a person actually requests. Just have your celebration put on your reservation and let it go at that. Maybe something will happen or maybe not. That’s how it works.

Thank you! You actually reminded me I personally know a few of the GMs from going so many times as a kid they have become close family friends! I reached out to them and they were able to help out! Thanks for being so kind !

Or ask on here what to do if you have it planned already?
I asked for ideas and then I planned it like most people do. So I’m confused as to why you commented because I posted this the other day. Thanks for the concern though. Have a great day :)

Congratulations on your first trip together. Etsy has some really cute matching trip shirts.
You could order some of his favorite snacks and such to the hotel from amazon prime now etc.

I hope you continue to research for more ideas since October Halloween Month is usually an extra special time of the year to visit. Hopefully Disney will create surprise unexpected plans . Recently they started showing Happily Ever After Fireworks on the resort tv nightly. (6-10 p.m.I am hoping they will change the theming to replay Halloween Firework .
They also have character appearing unexpectedly throughout the day in the Parks. They are called Character Calvacades and hoping they are in Halloween costumes for month of October!

I think emailing the GM is a wonderful idea even at this time. If they are able to email you back they will and if they can't they won't. I have only stayed at Pop once and loved it. They actually made a mistake on my bill and the GM was wonderful about it and double checked to make sure everything was corrected. A simple qualifying statement of" "I realize these are unusual times and you may not be able to get back with me. But I wanted to drop you a note to ask........................................................................". Also crowds are very sparse now. One time at the Grand Floridian a night GM type position spoke to me when I was walking to our villa. He asked if he could do anything to make my evening special. I joking said a dozen warm chocolate chip cookies would be great. Now he did not have my name and we had not met before. Yet he asked someone at the front desk if they knew me. They did as we have stayed there several times. Not 20 minutes later a dozen warm cookies showed up at our room!! Pixi dust :). Yet another time I had to fax some pages for work. I went to the business center and the young man faxed my pages for free. As there were several pages I sent him a bottle of wine and a speciality cupcake with a thank you note. So I was able to pixi dust him. You just never know when someone can help when requested. By the way: Have a WONDERFUL time and I hope if this is your engagement that it is wonderful and your lives together will be wonderful!!!

Pixie dust should be a surprise not asked for. Crowds might be light but there are so many extra health protocols, cleaning procedures, guest issues etc. Outright asking for something is rude! To each there own... but person who posted email was wrong, those seeing nothing wrong with asking for pixie dust wrong. That is my opinion in these different times. Now OP said they did purchase something - that is nice so no reason for them to email.

And asking for cookies even as a joke! 😢🤬
Some folks see the world's glass a half empty and others half full. Those chocolate chip cookies were great!!! Just like those served on the Royal Palm Club floor. What a fun memory and the start of a visit and hello on every trip after until he left for another position. (PS. The kindness of the surprise was also noted in a letter to Customer Relations. We send a note to Customer Relations after EVERY WDW visit to recognize positivity and interactions with cast members. I actually sewed some Disney fabric masks and sent them to "friends" as WDW last March. I did not hear from folks until June but they loved them and our well wishes.)

I was the first person who responded to the OP. I'm not really sure why you're against it or why you have such animosity against contacting the GM. His email is publicly available, so it's not against any rules. And no where does the OP suggest he/she wants something for free.

It's really weird how some members of this forum seem to think there's only one way (aka their way) to do something, and everyone else is wrong ...

Thank you so much! I will make a list of these things so that way I can remember when I’m there!! It’s all so new to me as I’m sure for everyone going now since the last time I was there!

Thank you so much! I’m so happy they were able to do that for you especially randomly! That’s what I love about Disney! I’m not the one to ask for much but since this is his first time I want to make it special and I am paying for it which I don’t care about! I spoke to a GM and they had no problem at all helping me out! I’m a nurse so I’ve been very busy during these times and truly just wanted to do something nice for him! Thank you so much for the input! I hope you have a great day :)

I don't think I saw this mentioned, but don't forget to get him a First Visit button (if they're still giving those out during Covid times), and then if you DO actually get engaged, you can get Happily Ever After buttons for the both of you!

Thank you! I will make sure to ask if they still have it! I know he will love that :) he’s a kid at heart!
