We stayed at the Pop Century from 11/10 to 11/13. While the theme of the resort was well carried out... (and maybe just a little tacky ;) ) The resort is really for familys with kids and.....There were A LOT of kids everywhere, most w/out supervision... DH got kicked like 5 times by the same kid in the pool before we finally gave up. (this was at 11 at night and the pool was packed)
I didn't really care for the way the food court was set up. You had to wait in line to order your food, then wait in another line to pay for it.
The transportation was probably the biggest drawback for us though. We left the magic kingdom 1/2 hour after the park closed. the line for the bus back went all the way back past the three all star resort lines and one other one... it was bad. we were in that line for nearly an hour. After a long day of walking around, standing in a very slow moving line was a little much for me. The transportation in the morning was just as bad to the magic Kingdom on early entry day. For the other parks it did not seem to be as much of an issue.
Housekeeping was great, they left us a cute flower basket made of towels and little roses in our window.
The line for guest services allways seemed long, so make sure you get express check out so you don't have to wait twice!
The resort was very compact, so there was not a long walk from anywhere to the main building.
We would probably not stay here again, even though we enjoyed our stay. The resort was clean and the staff was friendly, but it really was not my cup of tea.... DH loves the POFQ, so we will probably go back there if we can't justify the price of a deluxe resort.

Thanks for the report. With a $55/night rate, DW & I are going to try POP in February.

Just adding my $0.02 to feenie.

I'll be there in a week and half and I', looking forward to it.

Anyway, I've read a lot of Pop posts and most of the guests were pleased with the transportation.

Remember, you were at Disney World. There are thousands of guests just at Pop alone and MK being WDW's most popular park (I believe). Plus you were going to and leaving MK at the busiest times.

Disney only provides magic, they won't perform miracles.

Be fortunate you weren't staying at All Star. You would have had to go to all three resorts.

we did enjoy our stay, we just have had better luck with transportation at other resorts I guess. We Honestly never have had such a wait even at those peak times.
(I wish we could have gotten the 55 per night!! The black out days on the postcard we got were the days that we were there:rolleyes: The super soap weekend probably was the reason for that)
I hope you all have a great time!!

Thanks for the mini report! Sounds like you were there at a very busy time..we stayed there last Feb and did not have any bus issues - other than a looooong walk to the bus at EPCOT!

If not on a tight budget I'd stay at either a moderate or deluxe, but for $49 a night we are returning to POP next month.

Maybe a quiet pool would have been less crowded? It was quiet in our section (50's) and the pool was never full at any time we passed by.

:) It is rather tacky, but I guess that's where we have to dig down into our spirit of fun!! ;) It was an adjustment for sure, but it helped to take a walk around the lake.

Thanks again!

We also were there from 11/11 to 11/15 for SSW. While I enjoyed the resort, good food and really comfortable beds, I enjoy the Allstars better. Can't quite put my finger on it either. The transportation was very slow, it's much better at the Allstars. We had longer than normal waiting time for all the parks and it was a nightmare leaving MK after wishes. They finally called for 3 buses at once which helped. Been going to SSW for 9 years and never found the transportation this bad. We were in 50's Bldg which I thought was closer but now I see the 70's would have been a little closer to the main building. Our car was parked so far away we couldn't remember after 5 days where it was. It's not that I didn't like the resort, we just will probably go back to the Allstars instead. I couldn't pass up the $55/night either. After trying PC, we have stayed at every resort except for the Movies and Beach Club. So that is where we will be next year. I am not saying we didn't have a good time (we always do) or that I would never stay there again (I would)....just prefer the Allstar situation better.

Thanks for the reviews. We have stayed in pop twice and both times were absolutely perfect so we are returning for 10 days. Sorry about the problems. I won't like waiting an hour for a bus either. I hope it doesn't mean they cut back on the number of buses. We have never stayed quite so long nor have we stayed Christmas day. I hope it will be as much fun as the other 2 times there. With 49$ a night we couldn't do anything else.:Pinkbounc

Be fortunate you weren't staying at All Star. You would have had to go to all three resorts.

You might not have. Sometimes at peak hours they will run separate buses to each Allstar.

I am not crazy about visiting all of them on the bus when coming home from Pleasure Island, though, so I now stick with Pop Century.
