:) Hi!

I'm Mendi, I'm from Vancouver Washington and I'm new to (posting on) the boards. We will be staying at the Pop December 6-14. :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm so sad I caught this thread late in the game (especially with all the talk about discounted room rates several months ago) I had heard about the deal back then, but found out a couple weeks too late and they had all been sold out). So sad! :sad2:

There will be 10 of us in our group with 3 rooms (My Mom & baby sister, my family of 4--dd2.9 and dd8--and my other sister's family of 4). It's our first vacation as one big family since I left home 15 years ago and they've never been to Florida so I can't wait to see the excitement in their eyes! It's also my first time to be at WDW during the Christmas Season! :cool1: Anyway, I didn't really register what Pop Warner week was until reading this thread. Is it going to be crazy busy there that week with teenagers? Am I going to be looking at waits way longer than 5 to 10 minutes?

Just to clarify in case I missed it on one of the pages... We can't reserve our actual decade at Pop until we arrive, right?

Also, how's everyone packing for the weather down there? Are ya bringing summer clothes as well as major winter clothes? I heard you need to be prepared for everything, but with all the snacks and drinks we want to bring, I'm running out of room in our allotted suitcases.

I am so excited to leave, but as feared I've come down with some stupid chest cold and I feel all achy--Hopefully it won't linger for 3 weeks like the last yucky cold my family was plagued with. Anyone else coming down with something? It's making it real fun to pack and run errands when all I want to do is go back to bed. I really don't want to feel like this at the parks after we've been planning and looking forward to this week for over a year now.

Thanks for all your information over the months. You seem like a fun bunch of people! :)

Hi Mendi! Welcome to the DIS and to the POP before the Christmas Rush thread.

Here is a little
angelstaf.gif
for your chest cold!

You are correct that you will not find out what room you will get till you get there. What some of us do is when we made our reservation we put in a room request. My DH did 50s, Jukebox building, 3rd or 4th floor, lakeview. Will I get that? Who knows but they do their best. Sometimes you get all of your requests, sometimes you get 2 or 3 and sometimes you get none. If you didn't make a request when you booked you can send them a fax a few days before your arrival date with your requests. I don't remember how many days before but I know I've read the answer on the DIS somewhere.

Have you checked out the POP thread on the resort board? If not, go to the thread and look at the very first post. Lots of info about POP. Here is the link http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1991543&page=19

DH and I have been checking the weather for Orlando almost everyday. So far in the extended forecast they are showing mid to upper 70s most of the time we will be there (Dec 7-14). I plan on bringing capri pants to wear with a ss shirt or a tanktop and a lightweight jacket for the evenings. I will also pack those stretch and grow gloves with hats for all of us just in case the nights are cool. We are driving down from NH so I will have on fairly warm clothes to start out with so I can always add my fleece jacket over the other stuff. The last time we went in Dec 2006, the stuff I mentioned above worked fine.

I can't answer your question about the Pop Warner kids. I've heard YES it will be crazy and NO it won't be crazy. I guess it depends on who you talk to. My hope is that they are busy with their football games and cheering competitions during the day.

Those of us on here who hope to catch a glimpse of each other while we are down there have made Tie-Dye Mickey heads so we can recognize each other. We will also have lime green mickey heads that we are attaching to our bags. You're more then welcome to join us!

Getting sick right before a vacation is something I always worry about. So what I've started doing, about 2 weeks before any trip, I take at least one packet of emergen-C each day. Tons and tons of vitamin C to keep you healthy.

Hello! We will be at the POP from 12/10-12/14. We were supposed to get a fridge from a fridge swap, but the person before me called to say that the fridge is lost. Does anyone know of another swap that would have a last minute opening? Thanks!

Hi Mendi:wave:

First I hope you feel better soon. Everytime someone coughs or sneezes I cringe. Right now DS 10 says he doesn't feel good and is sluggish. I told him it was against the rules to get sick before disney.

You seem to have it right about how to pack.

I've never been around the pop warner people and if you read Nebo's last TR, he talks about being around them. Honey I shrunk the checkbook I think it's called.

I do know that you can't get a dinning ressie at any of the popular restaurants. You haven't been able to for months. In 2006 we had the parks to ourselves, this year CM's say it's really busy.......

Mine is booked. Sorry.

Judi,
I hope your daughter is feeling better...

Hard to believe in a week we will be there!!! All though I still haven't gotten any of our documents yet(besides the ME we got weeks ago). I did start working on the tye dye and door magnets last night while the guys were at scouts.

I am always worried about someone getting sick. And just to add to my fears, the guys are camping with the scouts this weekend, with lows in the 20's at night and a chance of flurries Saturday night. What are they thinking?

Monica, were you able to get reservations at 1900 Park? We went Dec 2006 also, and walked right onto rides...I am kinda worried about the rumors of the crowds...oh well, its Disney in December!!!!!!

DD update!! All is well, morning sickness is easing up a bit, had another checkup, heartrate is in the 180's(ok, she freaked thinking it was too high..lol)
and baby is doing good...then she said that they have snow up to her knees...WOW....

Yes I got 1900 park fare.

A nice diser gave me her ressie!

Now I am going to call dining to give up my tony's ressie I had for the same day to another.

I got the best time too. 6:35 dinner.

I was hoping to get a table with a view of the parade and fireworks.

I set that up for my sister once and it worked out like that for them and she called and was thanking me for creating all of their dinning ressies.

She was clueless about the DDP, ADR's and stuff. She booked her trip with a 2 week notice..............can you imagine???????????:confused3

Welcome Mendi!! We'll be at the Pop 12-5 to 12-13! (me, DH and DD10) My DD is a fish and I am sure we'll spend in the entire week at the pool. jes kiddin. sorta... sorry to hear you're not feeling well, your symptoms sound just like me last week. I hope it passes by quickly and you can enjoy your trip. What a nice big group!! We were supposed to have a big group going, too, and two families and a set of grandparents all backed out at one point or another over the past year. So it's just us. A little sad but a lot easier in the long run probably...

I've read on the Pop thread that it isn't that far to walk to the classic building from any of the buildings, that the longest walk to the food court was a 5-7 minute walk. I told my husband that and he said "do you realize that is about as far as all the way across campus?" (where we work) :scared1: We requested the 60's building 3rd or 4th floor lakeview. Maybe we can wave to Pikester!

Well, we are on the mend here... my cold is much better today, and DD went to school. She seems pretty good but said she didn't feel good. I know she's having social stress right now (girl drama) so I don't know if it's stress but I keep telling myself "we're well enough to get on the plane!!!" then we'll deal with it in the sunshine.

I'm a little all over the place, half packed, can't get focused, half doing laundry, and just generally scattered as all get out. Just one more night to get it all done! eek!

We have no fridge either. I was too late getting on DISboards to find a slot and I'm too cheap to pay $10 a day!... I was able to order some stuff from gardengrocer and it's being delivered Friday... water and snacks... and I got a cheapo whiteboard at the dollar store but it doesn't have a marker so I have to rig something up. haven't done that yet either...:rolleyes1

Bethipooh, great update on the baby... maybe it's a little girl!!!:cutie:

I sure hope I get to meet all of you next week... if you see a strange woman running at you pointing to your tie dye mickey heads, just duck and run! :lmao: I'm really very sweet and harmless... just gotta a bad case of DISNESS! :rotfl:

Judi I made my mickey tye die heads today.

I printed the pattern someone posted earlier on file folder paper. Ran some clear packing tape across the front and back and then drew the shapes and cut them out.

Pretty good I must say, and if you miss this, you must have gotten some pixie dust in your eyes.

I'm putting them on my bag, the double stroller and I might just hang them on my kids.........................:rotfl:

DH too just for spite, he shakes his head when I explain why I do what I do when it comes to my madness.

just wait until he sees just how popular I am........

I finished my health class today!!!!! 2 more classes to go.

I so need to start packing for me.

The kids all have summer clothes packed, I held off on the warm stuff and I do have the meds, soaps, shamps, wipes, crap all packed. DH is on his own this time. He's a big boy.

I placed my garden grocer maybe two weeks ago so I could get the time slot I wanted. That comp. gets booked fast!

The 10th we will be mostly getting adjusted and I think if the weather is right I'm forcing the kids to swim right away to get it out of their systems, so I don't have to listen to that, much.

I'm such a mean mommy. I know.

I'm hoping to be somewhat near the hippy dippy that day.

Peace Out:hippie:

24 hours and we will on the plane!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Hey MonyMony, I will look for you at the hippy dippy pool on the 10th!!!... My dd will love to have some playmates... I laughed about the comment about how popular you are... I told my DH "I already have friends waiting for us there!!!!" :grouphug: I'll PM you a pic of us so you'll know now to run screaming when this stranger comes running up to you "DO YOU DIS????"...

:rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow:
SEE YOU AT THE POP!!!!!

Can you believe there was a time when we would actually go to WDW without ANY preparations, no park plans, no ADR's, no nothing...:scared1:
Heck we didn't even know ADR's existed. Then there was the one trip we planned around eating...(too many ADR's)

I discovered the DIS after our first DCL cruise...

So one day we were at the park after the cruise, and I saw a lady dressed head to toe in lime green, so feeling confident, I approached her and asked her if she DIS'ed...OH...MY...GOODNESS....she gave me this look and was like, I beg your pardon??? I stammered and apologised and ran(ok walked) away.

And that, was the last time I ever approached someone without being sure. Positive beyond 100 percent that they are Diser's.

Now grant it I have helped coordinate DIS meets on the cruise, and our last one had over 30 families and close to 100 people in the picture, but never again, unless they have something that identifies them, will I ever walk up to some one.

Now grant it, I may stare at them and try and figure it out....

So if you see someone staring at ya, it may be me...LOL

I asked someone too who was wearing lime green is they dised and got the weirdest stare back. I totally understand, which made me hesitate to ask anyone else.

I do like looking at the decorated windows at the resorts, I have a window cling with my user name and disboards.com on it.

Which reminds me I have to find those..............

Hello POP ladies! I am getting so excited! Only 2 days till we start our drive and 3 days until we are at Disney!

Hey Mony, I've been reading your first trip report. LOVE IT! Since you mentioned that you'll be walking around looking at windows, here is a description of how I plan on decorating our window. I have a tension rod that will have Winter Fabric Mickey Heads hung with ribbon. It will have 4 heads, 2 heads, 4 heads, 2 heads and 4 heads; top to bottom going across the length of the rod. One of the Mickey heads is lime green with my User Name on it. I'll also have snowflake window clings. That's it. My Mom is doing the same in her window (hopefully we get connecting rooms).

Beth: Thank you for the updates on your DD. It's nice to hear.

JMSRTM: Trying to memorize your families faces from the picture you sent. I hope I can get it right!

Have a good night all!

I didn't get a picture????

Pikster that sounds really cool. I will know its you if I find it. We put stuff on our door too.

What does everyone use to decorate their windows? I was going to when we went in Sept but had heard that they were asking people to remove decorations. Maybe I have time to make some up for our trip. Only four more sleeps:banana: .
Feel free to say hi, I'll be the one with seven kids in two, usually baby in the sling, two year old in Dad's arms and pushing an empty double stroller;) .

I plan on working on stuff for our door this weekend. I may get brave and attempt to make a window cling, but I don't know. I had directions somewhere on how to spray paint them on the back side to make them stand out. We will have to see..

So are we putting our names on the Mickey heads? I printed off a few different tye dye patterns...Dh has just resigned himself to the fact that everything we carry will have a green mickey head on it..

Pikester, you window sounds awesome...

We won't be checking in at Pop till Thursday morning, our TA got us an awesome room only deal for Wednesday at the Contemporary. Its a surprise for the guys. We plan on doing the monorail resorts that night to look at the decorations.

Hey I'm about to start packing.

If you hear a crazy woman's voice, just ignore it.

Carry on.
