Poor visit/observations at DLR after a year

Glad I read your post, because I won't be bringing my 2 autistic boys to WOC. I don't think they would enjoy it at all. We are opting for the Fantasmic Dessert Package when we go in July. I think I may just go to WOC on my own while the kids are asleep back at the hotel with my DH. Sorry about your steak, you should have had it cooked the way you want, although I think steak is better medium-rare.

don't get me wrong we've seen WOC several times with our son and haven't had any problems, which was why I was puzzled that we were having such a bad time this trip. Plus no two autistic kids are the same as you know so it also depends on what bothers or triggers your kids.

I am taking the WOC ears to a higher power as I agree they have replaced things before and should have for us. I even went to the very store we had purchased it from the night before!

For those asking about the room rate its kind of a complicated story, everything was booked but we know sometimes people cancel but we have to book our annual pass holders rate on the phone, so when we called the lady said (we have the name of the CM, the date and time called too because they record conversations) she said it is quicker to catch something online then book it online and when we check in just show your annual pass and they will discount it from there. Well that didn't happen as the hotel guy said it wasn't a pass holder room we booked (it doesn't specify online) and we already booked it so no go, he then asked me the date and time so they could pull the phone recording which I gave him because by all means I know what we were told and both hubby and I were on the line when it happened. So that's why. it's a matter of some CM told us the wrong thing and we got the wrong end of the deal.

While things on the track is a problem for RPR, my CM friend who is the lead ride operator for the ride said that isn't the main problem on the ride (as they ask people to remove glasses and hats and stuff) she said it's the animation that overloads or freezes which then causes the power to cut out.

I hope with the supposed planned refurb for WOC AND the park area that they design some sort of bleacher area that folds into the ground so they can keep the park area a park during the days and a seating area for WOC at night. The bleacher system they are rumored to be looking at isn't much diferent from what modern designed high school gyms use. Electronic folding up bleachers (the only difference is Disney wants them underground after they fold up which wouldn't be too hard for Disney and their creative magic)

OK please don't get me wrong we are of course going back to DLR and we usually have a great time, that's why this visit frustrated me and puzzled me because we normally don't have this many problems. We had good experiences too, likie I said while the meal was bad a Carthay Restaurant the design and ambiance was wonderful. The Iron Man exhibit at Innoventions was wonderful and very well organized so that people could stand in line and wait for it and those that didn't want to view the exhibit went in a different way. They also made it easy for my son who has a problem with lines to give us a ticket with a time to come back so we could walk around innoventions and come back when it was our turn. Very well organized. I realize students aren't Disney's problems, it's just part of the problem that added to everything else. With an autistic child we realize we have to do things differently or pay more money like in the Fantasmic desert thing because that's just the way it goes (the handicapped section for Fantasmic isn't condusive for an autistic child as it is crowded and waaaay off to the side do you are looking at a profile shot of Mickey the whole time plus we would be standing instead of sitting.) Standing for fireworks isn't a problem as everything is up in the air but at WOC that isn't the case everything is right in front of you. Still don't know why those dome things that come out of the water and display projections on them aren't coming out still, that's been a while.
Like I said I still love Disney and always have and still hold them in high regard which is probably why my frustration showed through more with this visit especially with the money we (and everyone else) spends.

P.S. Just my personal opinion but I'm not enjoying the Mad Tea Party it takes up so much room and is kind of an eye sore during the day as the space for it isn't being used for anything. That's why I liked Tron night show because not only was it better (in my opinion) but it went away during the day and brought out at night. This Mad Tea Party is HUGE and just in your face during the day for no real reason during the day. Hopefully with the ball rolling on the new Tron movie they will bring back Tron at night, I thought that was cool.
I know other people like the Mad Tea Party and it is cool for an older more adult crowd and that's cool I just think it's too big as they don't have a way for clearing it out for the daytime and it hides certain attractions next to it.

P.P.S. They seem to be using Muppets Theater for a lot of stuff OTHER than the 3D muppets show, there is a new muppets movie filming but it almost seems like they are phasing it out.

ALSO they have this new dance party thing in the old who wants to be a millionaire theater but I didn't even know about it and neither did anyone else. There is no sign outside, no advertisement no castmembers trying to get people inside when we went in there was no one there, it was us and one other family and for a dance party you really need a crowd to get things going, it was just kind of sad as I think it's a great concept especially for kids to meet and interact with characters. Wonderful concept just poorly advertised.

Being a High School teacher and FBLA advisor, I can share your misery concerning the lack of behavior among the students. Over the years I have escorted students on overnight trips, I have found that the growing lack of maturity among teenagers is leading to more and more of the situations you mentioned. Also, Hotels have a tendency to room chaperones on different floors. Over the years I have reduced the number of students I take on these trips and take only my most mature and well behaved.

BTW: FBLA National Conference and the Anaheim Convention Center will be 6/27-6-30

I still do not undertand what happened with the hotel rate.

Did you get a better rate by booking it on another website than the AP discount and if so, why were you trying to amend it to the AP rate when you checked in? It just doesn't make sense for her to suggest it is quicker to book something online and then amend it later, if you were on the phone with her, you could have booked it right then and there could you have not?

Either way, if we book with Disney for an AP rate we will be doing it directly with them and no other party will be in between.

Oh wow you got a bad CM on the phone. I always get an email with my rate, it freaks me out otherwise.

I agree 100% about muppets and it annoys me. My kids LOVE the muppets because of the recent movie, and when we were last there is was Frankenweenie (meh), and hopefully this time it will actually be muppets. I will be sad when they get rid of it when the main problem with that area is theming, not that attraction or the idea of a muppets area.
