Poor Michael Vick is not happy in Philly. I'm so saddened.

My Dh and I are huge Buffalo Bills fans but I told hubby last night that if Michael Vick becomes a Buffalo Bill, I will no longer be a fan. Very simple decision for me.:thumbsup2

 Thank you all. Threads like this make me happy. :thumbsup2

Putting aside moral implications of Vick's actions off the field, the fact remains that he didn't play for 2 years. Running around a prison yard isn't the same as playing in the NFL. He's out of practice and let's face it, he's not that great. I called it when we signed him. And look at him now, yep, he does the Wildcat because he has no accuracy with the ball when he's been placed in the position of QB. He stinks, and he's playing for Philly. I mean c'mon, we're ready to crucify Reid & McNabb after Sunday night's game (which was handed to Dallas thanks to the friggen refs, not from terrible playing IMO) does he really think he's going to find any sympathy with the Philadelphia fans??

Get over yourself.

Yeah, come to Buffalo, it'll give me something more to laugh at :rotfl:

I've been waiting a long time to use this guy.

Mr. Vick, cry me a river and drown in it.

:surfweb:
Man, I think Vick should just chill and be happy where he is at. He is in a very favorable yet fragile position being back in the NFL. Especially since America is still bit salty from his animal incident. Though I agree he was wrong, I personally didnt think it was as big an issue as it became. Just chill out, watch what you say and your attitude, and enjoy being the "wildcat guy" before you become the "unemployed-and-buried-in-debt guy". Somebody will pick you up and play you, you're michael vick. patience my friend.
:coffee:

All I can say is please leave and stop being an embarrassment and reminder of the poor judgement of ppl. in my home state:sick:
You may not agree with Papa Deuce's position on this, but attacking him is not appropriate.

To the issue of the thread, who cares? Should no player ever give his opinion? While I agree that players shouldn't speak out publicly against their own team, that's not what appears to be happening here.

I thought he was referring to Vick and not Papa Deuce.

I hope he finds a team where he can start. He is still a good QB in the right offense. He did his crime and served his time, he's all paid up in my opinion. I really didn't care one tiny little bit about what he did, but it is illegal and when you break the law you have to serve the sentence assigned. He did that so just like anyone else on Earth that serves his sentence or pays his fine, he is all paid up to society.

I've always thought it would be appropriate for Vick to have to duct tape a raw steak to his behind, and practice with a bunch of hungry dogs on the field. JMHO.

From Yahoo Sports.

While being really, really careful not to say anything that would make waves, Philadelphia Eagles "quarterback" Michael Vick(notes) said yesterday that he's not thrilled about his role in the Philadelphia offense. He doesn't dig the Wildcat, and if it's up to him, he won't be doing it next year.

"It would be hard," Vick said of returning to the Eagles, according to excerpts released by NBC. "It would be an everyday struggle. But I would have to take that time to hone my skills and get better. I'm excited about the opportunity I have moving forward whether it's with Philadelphia or another team." [...]

"I won't be a Wildcat guy. I can't," Vick told NBC. "It's a different style of play. It's almost like a hit-or-miss type of thing. My position is quarterback. That's what I was born to do."

What he does next year isn't really up to Vick, though. The Eagles have the option to keep him around next year for $3.6 million, though it's got to be seen as unlikely that the Eagles would pay that much for a guy whose only function seems to be to prevent the offensive from functioning smoothly or with any rhythm.

Not that that's Vick's fault, mind you. That coach Andy Reid brings him to stall the offense periodically is Andy Reid's decision. Maybe Vick can't make plays anymore ... maybe he can't throw or run. If that is the case, though, might I present this crazy idea to Andy Reid: Stop putting Vick in the game

Oh bother. :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

I know from your previous posts that his particular crime of animal cruelty would not bother you, but to most feeling people this was a very heinous crime, and he should not be out there in a profession for kids to idolize.

My husband will not watch the Eagles this year because of this scum bag.

He is a man doing a job, no more and no less. Some sell cars, some paint houses, some play football. I do not nor have I ever idolized any person because of how well they do or don't do their job. A person is idolized because of the totality of their character and the character of most professional athletes is not idol worthy.

I don't idolize Vick, I merely think he should be allowed to do his profession. I would feel the same if the butcher, baker, or candlestick maker served their sentence especially for a crime that was not against any person. I have plenty of sympathy but 100% of it is reserved for human beings, not animals.

Ive stated this before(this is for those who think Vick paid for his crime), until he is strapped to a breeding board, and raped by who knows how many dogs(Or people in this case), he has not paid his crime..
For those who followed the VICK dog stories, this was shown in a documentary about VICK dogs..Yes, it is a breeding board where they strap female dogs to and basically let other dogs rape the females..
VICK spending time in prison and house arrest and paying a fine..doesnt cut what type of person he is.
Whether he directly did these things or not, he had direct knowledge of what went on in his backyard.
For those who refuse to watch the EAGLES because of him, I high 5 y ou all.

This makes no sense. When someone is convicted of raping a human, a much more serious crime then Vick committed, they are not raped in return. They receive a sentence and serve it. When someone is convicted of arson neither they nor their house are set on fire. They receive a sentence and serve it. Even when someone kills another person they are most often not killed in return, they receive a sentence and serve it. There are outliers that are executed for their crimes because of extenuating circumstances but in our country you serve your sentence and are released back into society either completely or in a controlled manner.

If your a felon you can not even get a job at the mall. He should not be working in the NFL.

For most of us, there is enough sympathy to go around to humans and animals. I would be very happy for Mr. Vick if he became a car salesmen like a lot of has been ball players become.

Children do not idolize based on character, unfortunately. They don't see things the same way adults do. They idolize based on money, success in a popular field, popularity, and media pushing "idols" on them. They don't stop and think, "is this guy a good person?" And Mr. Vick's problem isn't even that he lacks character, the guy is missing his soul. Not someone that kids should be looking up to on the ball field, IMO.

To me, no one is idol worthy.
