First off, I'd like to say thanks to all of you who have joined in on our fun!!

Next, on to day 1!

Thursday, May 7th

We woke up bright and early this morning (around 4:45am ) and began getting ready. It wasn't long before the car service was here to take us to the airport! We piled in the sedan and we were off a little past 6am for our 7:35am flight. On our way to the airport, Mickey Mouse called Emily to say good morning and to have a great trip! She was super stoked!! We had no problems getting through security and to our gate in plenty of time so we stopped for a muffin and Mike got a coffee before we boarded. The flight was pretty uneventful and we landed about 25 minutes ahead of schedule! Once we took the tram to the main terminal at MCO we had McDonalds for b-fast and off we went to find the DME bus. Amazingly, there was no line for DME and we were on our bus and in route to the Poly by 10:30am!

We walked into the lush lobby of the Poly around 11am and checked in.

Our room wasn't ready, infact, we hadn't been assigned a room yet so Dani, the CM checking us in, asked if we had a specific request and I told her we would like to be in the Tahiti bldg. She called the room assigner and asked for Tahiti, then she asked if an upgrade was possible for our anniversary. No such luck there, but we ended up with a huge room in the Tahiti bldg with a great view of the gardens. Poly really has beautiful grounds! Like I said, the room was huge, but dark! We always had to have several of the lights on at all times!

Anyway, while we were waiting for our room, we decided to hang out at the Volcano pool and get our swim on! We spent many hours in the Volcano pool over our stay and it was nice, but it was no SAB! We did miss SAB this time around! I don't have any pics of the pool this day, you'll have to check back later for pool pics!

After the dip in the pool, Emily took a nap while Mike and I unpacked and made ourselves at home since we were going to be staying for a while....or so we thought! :rolleyes1

Up Next: Day 1 continued...DTD and T-Rex!!

Yay! You started yours! Cannot wait to read some more :) I am super jealous of your room at Poly lol. Made mine look like a plain old motel room!

I love the pic of Emily on the bed all cozy! Does she sleep well in a big kids bed with no side rails?

Hey, we were right down the hall from you!! We were in Tahiti, Room 3011 - 3rd floor, garden view - in that picture of your balcony, our room was further down on the right (close to the outside steps that open out to Tokelau, I think) - too funny!

So, did you not stay there? Your "or so we thought" comment has me thinking....:scratchin

Those rooms are really large - I was impressed! Dark, yes...but I loved those little lamps next to the bed that you could dim and brighten!

Great start - looking forward to the next part! :goodvibes

Aww those pictures of the Poly got me all sentimental. I love the view from your balcony! We had a ground floor patio, so we didn't really have a "view".

Your "or so we thought..." comment has me dying to know what's going on. Can't wait for the next update!:yay:

The rooms were nice...and big! Emily had plenty of room to spread out and play! I'm glad you and Rylan made it home safe. Can't wait to read all about your trip!

She sleeps in a full size bed here at home with no rails so she is used to it. I had rails for a while, but took them off about 4 months ago. She's a pretty stationary sleeper!

How funny!! We were in room 3045! We were about 4 rooms down from where the elevators were towards the TTC! We probably saw you and didn't even know!

I liked the dimming lamps too, it made it easier to get Emily in bedtime mode!

You'll have to wait until Day 4 to find out!!!!!;)

Hmmmm....maybe we might have seen eachother, but we weren't there until the 13th - 17th....and I'm sure you aren't going to jump ahead to Day 4 to tell us what happened....:rolleyes1, now are you? :sad2:

I wonder if you were one of the families at the Poly pool that was really making me feel sad about not having my kids there with me! :sad1: Ironically, I did fine in the parks as far as missing them, but when I was at the Poly pool or GCH, I got really sentimental knowing how much my 3 little ones would have loved that place! (I have an Emily too, BTW...) This was our first trip without the kids! :guilty:

Love the pics of the Poly! It sounds like everything happend the way it should - your off to a great start.

Ok....you know me. What is SAB?

SAB is Stormalong Bay, the pool at the Yacht and Beach Club! We stayed at the Beach Club last year and LOVED the pool there. They have a sand bottom pool for the kiddos, a lazy river, water slides and another large pool and several hot tubs!

Hmm...something to look into? What kind of transportation does the Beach Club have? I think we almost booked there because of the kitchens...We are probably going to drive when we go next time and bring my niece. An extra adult for rides. Our 10 yr ann. is in 2011.

Oh great start! I'm so excited to find out what happens. Did you get upgraded or something? Did you stay in that room? I love cliffhangers! :goodvibes

Ahh, finally Emily gave me the computer back! She's been creating Pixies on the Pixie Hollow site forever!!

So where did I leave off? Oh yeah!....

After Emily had her nap and Mike and I relaxed we got ready for some shopping and dinner at T-Rex! We jumped on the bus to DTD and we were there in no time. We headed to Goofy's Candy Co. for some goodies! Mike is obsessed with a certain candy that he can only find at Goofy's. (They are some sort of disgusting sweet tart chalky ball!) I got a chocolate covered strawberry..YUMMY!!

From Goofy's, we headed straight to T-Rex. We checked-in at the podium and we we're seated right away! As soon as you walk into the restaurant there is a HUGE T-Rex roaring in your face and Emily was NOT a fan of that! Once we got past that, she was OK! We sat near the ice cave, which was pretty cool! It changes colors...

We ordered the Brachiosaurus Bruschetta as an appitizer and it was delish! Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture!!

Mike had the Boneyard Buffet - Fire-roasted Rotisserie Chicken and Mega Mes-O-Bones served with waffle fries and your choice of one of the following sides: garlic mashed potatoes, Raptor rice, baked beans, cinnamon apples, cole slaw or roasted vegetables
123.jpg

He really enjoyed the chicken, but the ribs were a little dry!

I had the Paleonzoic Chicken Sandwich - Fried pizza dough with grilled chicken, lettuce, bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato and lemon aioli
121.jpg

This sandwich was very good. The chicken was juicy, but it was filling. I could only eat half!

Overall, the food was decent, but the restaurant was LOUD. It was hard to hear Mike sitting across from me. We're glad we experienced it, but I think we'll stick with Earl of Sandwich!! We rate T-Rex :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Oh, I almost forgot...at the table next to us there was a man sitting there with the most obvious tupee I have ever seen. It was RIDONKULOUS!! :rotfl2: They got up and left and 2 ladies sat down at that table and the one 20 something girl pulled a doll dressed in Goth attire and sat it on the table and was talking to it. :confused3 WEIRDOS!!!!

After dinner, we headed to World of Disney and did some shopping!

We ended the evening at my favorite place at DTD...Ghirardelli (DROOL!)

Mike ordered the Strike It Rich - Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae - butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets under a layer of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry
127.jpg

Mike gives this a :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2!

I order the The Domingo - Banana Hot Fudge Sundae - vanilla ice cream surrounded by bananas, topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry
128.jpg

All I have to say about this is OMG, can I have another!! Definitely a :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2!

Back to the Poly we headed for an early night!

Up Next: Day 2, May 8, 2009...Chef Mickey's, MK and dinner with Kara (kgle) and Rylan at the Yachtman Steakhouse!

We went to T Rex on our last day. I was sick and nauseous on the drive home because of it. I didn't have any zantac and I was dying for some. It's normal tourist food. Yuck!

Hi!

I am joining in on your fun....can't wait to read more.....I live for new TR as i wait for my 2010 trip to roll :rotfl::rotfl:around

Thanks

The inside of T Rex looks really cool! I hate noisy restaurants though, they drive me crazy! And sounds like you really lucked out with nearby table company.

OMG those sundaes look delicious. I could go for one right this second!
