A friend and I are booking 5 days onsite this July. We anticipate spending a fair amount of time at the pools. When I'm not in the pool swimming I prefer to sit and read a book (or enjoy a cocktail) in the shade. I'm very fair-skinned and burn easily! In your experience, which pools do (or do not) have a good amount of shaded areas to sit? The a few resorts we are interested in are: Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado. We are open to other suggestions as well!

POR Riverside, shady for sure. Best over at tables by bar. But plenty of shady lounge chairs.

POR has much more shade then CSR. I believe GF has pool side cabanas that you can rent $$ and I am not sure about how much shade YC has.

POR Riverside definitely has some shady spots. YC does too (probably less than POR though) and the pool is awesome.

Well there are some shady spots at YC/BC, but I hardly ever was able to grab those spots it was so busy, I just grabbed whatever I could get, and then if I saw someone leave, I played the grab that spot game, lol. However, at POR, I was always able to grab my table to read and have a drink while my husband and kids swam

I do nto remember much shade at the GF pools. I think I found a little at the quiet pool. And at the bar. There was shade at the bar.

It's not on your list, but AKL- especially the pool on the Kidani side- is very shady. It's a wonderful resort overall. The only one on your list I have experience with is YC and I think it's going to take some effort to stake out a shady spot there. We love Y&BC though. It's my favorite:goodvibes

I found POR to be very shady, almost too shady! At YC there were some shady sections but as someone else mentioned it filled up fast.

I think I'm going to pack an umbrella. I'm fair, too, and have no desire to burn-tan!

We've never had any problem finding a shady spot at the main pool at the BC/YC. Most of the shade is over on the kids pool side and in front of the Yacht Club restaurants. We have also stayed at POR in the Alligator Bayou section and the quiet pool by our room, building 25, was very shady. It was nice because we would have the pool to ourselves in the afternoons and could swim in the shady part of the pool.
