Pools at Pop

Does anyone else ever have a feeling that Management at the Main pool at Pop doesn't really care about the noise level after 11:00 P.M. We stayed there last year in August and had a terrible time with kids and adults in the pool after closing. When I'm trying to get sleep from a long day at the parks, I don't need to be waken at 0200 by people yelling and knocking on the doors of the rooms around the pools. I pay extra for that because I'm diabled.

It seems that when you call the front desk, it comes back to they don't want to ruin the "magicial moments" for their guests, What About those of us trying to get sleep and tend to the families before another exciting day at athe parks.

Just venting, but it get me upset.

I understand your complaint. That is why I always tell family and friends to request a room on the opp. side of the pool to avoid the noise level. Plus the noise seems to echo within the buildings.

We are staying in POP for the 1st time this August. I agree with the poster above. Maybe next time you are there you could request a room away from the pool?

We are also staying at POP in August. DH is ill so, although we've booked a preferred location room, I am going to be in contact as the trip gets closer to make sure we're nowhere near the pool.

I am ITA about the management not caring. That sort of attitude is running rampant everywhere. "Well, we don't want to cramp anybody's style." Yeah, well what about MY style being cramped when I can't get any sleep because of all the drunk idiots and out-of-control kids running around? Oh that gets me HOT!!! Happens everywhere you go.

But... the only way it is going to change is if people start going up the chain of command to register their displeasure, and also voicing their feelings with their wallets. As long as people put up with it, it will continue.

We are taking our first trip to disney in late july and staying at POP. Am I crazy to have requested a poolside room? DH really likes the thought of letting dd2 nap while he sits in a chair just outside the room or putting ds5 and dd2 to bed at night while we sit out (in front of the room) and people watch. Is this a crazy plan? Is the noise so bad that we won't be able to sleep?

We're staying at Pop for the first time late August. I booked preferred but requested a "quiet" room. Hope that will do it!

I was in a preferred room at Pop last April (we were upgraded )
Our room faced the pool but we were on the 4th floor. I swear we didn't hear a thing!

I don't think you are crazy because you are expecting the excitement and activity of the pool area. I have stayed at POP three times - each time in the 60s Play Doh building. Only 1 night out of all of those trips did the pool noise bother me - and it was the night before the marathon. I guess I might have been a little worried about that too.

Sorry, but common sense tells us that a pool-front room comes with noisy times. Next time, request a room away from the pool. It sounds to me that you would be a lot happier.

We've stayed at POP 3 times & have always been in a 60's room facing the pool.

We hear the noise when we first get in bed (around midnite), but we're always so tired that it has never bothered my family.

There are 198 Preferred rooms in the two 60s buildings that face away from the pool; in addition, none of the rooms in the 50s and 70s that are designated Preferred face a pool (although some of those 50s rooms are kinda close to the Bowling Pin pool). In fact, the 70s Preferred rooms are closer to Classic Hall than some of those in the 60s buildings. Anyway, my point: There are plenty of Preferred rooms that do NOT face a pool, and therefore are NOT subject to pool noise.

I wouldn't have been happy either, I don't want someone knocking on our door.

We were at POP in August also, but we had the 90's building but off the ground floor, although we did face the pool .

I found it to be very quiet.

What may be obvious to you isn't necessarily to another person. If you don't have prior experience to go by, how would you know what to expect? No need to get mean about it.

I don't think the OP was complaining about the noise level in general around the pool, but rather the noise level late at night (after 11pm) and also the kids running around knocking on doors at all hours (2:00 am). Just because someone gets a pool-front room doesn't mean they should be subjected to that. S/he probably requested a preferred-location room and that's where s/he was put.

Too late for the OP, but we were put in the '60s Play Doh building facing the lake (in the back of the building and far from the pool). We were close to the pool but away from the noise.

I think it just depends on what section you are in and the time you go. We were there in November and in the 50's. We didn't hear anything. Not even anyone running around or noise from the rooms next to us.

We just got back from POP today and we never once had to deal with the noise level at the Hippy Dippy Pool. We were in the 60's building (granted it was on the other side) and we never had an issue with any loud noises or groups of loud people at night. Most nights we were asleep by 10PM (yeah I know.. what a wuss huh lol.. but I am just getting over pneumonia and got easily wiped out walking all over the parks). We were very happy with POP and are planning on staying there on our next visit to WDW!
