I posted a question about visiting friends in a different resort and eating with them and letting our kids swim together. The response was very negative, to say the least. So I called customer service to see about paying for a "day pass" so to speak, and the CM said no, I didn't need one. He said that as a guest, your guests are allowed to use the pool at your resort. Just as long as 1 person in your party is staying at that resort. Just wanted to report it for those of you in a similar situation, where part of your group is staying in a different resort.

Please note this is different than pool-hopping, where you and your family decide to just go visit another resort because you like the pool better.

Good grief, I can talk to still another CM and get a completely different answer. Just because you got it from one CM, doesn't mean the manager of the resort is going to allow it as well.

Just a word of caution, the CMs on the phone are working from a call center and are not the CMs lifeguarding the pools. It has been reported by many that during busy times you are required to show your KTTW card (stating that you are a guest of the hotel you're trying to swim at) in order to gain entry to the pool area. The Poly and StormAlong Bay (BC/YC) are two that immediately jump out as having this requirement.

I'm not saying that what the CM told you isn't true ... I'm not even sure which resort you will be visiting your friends at ... I would just hate for your family to be disappointed because a call centre CM misinformed you.

If we are booked at BWV and i book my son and family at BCV...I am sure we cannot go there (under the rules)and swim!

That's correct. No one but the guests of YC/BC/BCV can swim at those pools.

Instead of your friends visiting you at your resort to swim there because it's not allowed, why not spend the day at Blizzard Beach or Tyhpoon Lagoon?

We went through this issue re the pools at ASMusic in Feb. 09 (please note: I'm only posting re those pools at that time).

I called the "front desk" ie. call centre and got the same response. At a later date when I was actually talking to the front desk, they told me it was ok. Asked at front desk at check-in, checked with the both the CM at the pool and the lifeguard the day of check-in and the day my DD was having a friend over for a playdate. Essentially, the CM at the pool said that any guest of ours was considered a guest of ASMusic, and the lifeguards always reserve the right to limit the use of the pool to guests staying at the resort (but in that case, they would be limiting the number of guests in the pool anyway). Since we were there in Feb. this wasn't an issue we had to deal with. When we were having the playdate, the pool CM brought the girls some extra towels. :goodvibes

I think that what needs to be remembered is that the list of rules that the lifeguards follow is as long as a book, not short enough to all be posted on a sign (and it's the lifeguards who ultimately decide whether permission is granted to your guests, or anybody, to swim in the pool at that time) Also, there is no single policy for all of the pools in WDW -- I would always check first, even though in our case we were clearly within their rules.

That is exactly what the CM told me on the phone. We took the upgrade to SSR, but had some friends stay at POP. I asked the CM if we could get a day pass to POP to visit them, since it seems to be regarding the "higher-priced" places that get totally freaked about this issue:snooty:. The CM then said, I see you're staying at SSR, why not have THEM visit YOU? He told me it is a much bigger pool and even has a waterslide. I asked about the key card and he said as long as 1 person is a guest at that resort, they are welcome.

I told him what I read on the DisBoards and he said not to believe everything you read here, as it is not "Disney" answering questions, but people posting their own interpretations of Disney. He gave me the number to call SSR directly and ask the front desk myself since he could sense my hesitation.

Any previous CM's have additional insight?

1st: It is allowed!!! Reason for this thread.
2nd: We would want to swim more than once!! Besides, we have season passes to a waterpark here. I can pass.

Now that's really interesting.
I'm member at a foreign Florida/Disney board. Many members go to Florida but almost never stay onside.
Correct me as I'm wrong but this means we would be able to have a reunion at the Grand Floridian pool as long as one of us is staying there?

Last May we talked about a gathering somewhere in Orlando but a free gathering at the GF pool would be soooooooo cool.
And taking the "your guests are our guests" a step further does this also include the concierge club amenities? I remember DIS members were advocating this also.
So this would mean we could invite 20 or 30 people let them swim for free and if possible let them eat and drink for free at the lounge of the Sugar Loaf club.

Well lets see how many of us are going next May :lmao:

Why play on somebody's words and take her statement out of context just to prove a point.

Obviously as is clear on every board on here and elsewhere, everyone's experiences, treatment and things they are allowed to do at Disney, will be different.

My personal guess is the OP will be allowed to have her guests swim with her for one day, because most Lifeguards aren't jerks, and will not have a problem with them inviting 3 or 4 people, unless the pool is way too crowded that day.

We have friends staying at the BC the same time we are going to be there. She had already said why don't you bring the kids over to go swimming. I said no thanks! Not allowed! I have read too many threads on the disboards about this. I was under the impression that if you don't sleep there, you don't swim there! I don't want to be one of those people who get kicked out by one of the lifeguards! We will be staying at CBR, so we have a great pool to play in! ;)

You do have a great pool to swim in!!!! So if you have no interest in swimming with your friends, than it really doesn't matter. If you did wish to swim with your friends than just remember you would not get kicked out, if you ask first and get the lifeguards permission. Of course it may be a bit of a hassle to get there and find out they say no. But perhaps your friend could ask the lifeguard first before you come over, if your kids wanted to swim and play together.

Either way, have fun!

CM's on the phone have also told people they could use extra days on a non park hopping ticket to park hop and all sorts of other things that aren't accurate. I take what they say with a grain of salt. Check at the time at the resort for the answer.
