Pool view at POR?

I will be arriving Saturday! I did reserve two pool view rooms for my family at POR. What's your experience with location of these rooms as far as to the lobby, bus, etc? I have hip bursitis and Achilles tendinitis and I'm also wondering if requesting ground floor would save some walking? I didn't have these afflictions when I made the reservation and am worried about my mobility or lack thereof getting around a large resort like POR.

If you look at the map on Portorleans.org, you can click on each building to see where the pool view rooms are. Since there are quiet pools all around, the pool view rooms can be far from the main building. There are bus stops spread out around the resort, though. Maybe you can change your reservation to 'Preferred'? That guarantees a close walk. Or add a request to your reservation to be in a close, non-preferred building (Building 16).

ETA: Preferred and Pool view are the same price.

Then I don't think the walk will be bad. In either building, you'll be fairly close to the bridge that leads to the main building. We've stayed in both buildings (pre-royal room) and didn't think the walk was bad at all, even from the parking lot side. We loved Parterre because of how close it was, and we preferred the Mansion buildings. First floor might be helpful so you don't have the extra walk to the stairs/elevator, though it seems all of those rooms are fairly close to the stairs (judging from the map.)

The royal rooms are not as close as preferred rooms would be, however you don't have a choice if it's a royal theme you want. It's definitely a hike to the main pool but not as bad of a walk to the main building/bus stop. You can request a ground floor room but both royal room buildings have elevators. You may want to request Oak Manor because it's closer to the main pool and the bridge which takes you over to the food court.
