I would not infer from the CM that pool hopping is condoned by Disney. What it appears to state is a policy of allowing resort guests to have guests themselves and host them at their own pool. For example, if you stay on site at Disney and friends or family live in the area and are visiting you, they are welcome "as your guest" to the pool services.

The fact that "your guest" also happens to be onsite at WDW doesn't matter in this instance. Am I wrong in this understanding? In this specific instance, it isn't about pool hopping. It is simply a policy that you may invite your own guests to swim with you during a visit in much the same manner as inviting someone to have dinner with you at the hotel restaurant.

It's not. The point is that everyone always wants to hop to the pools at the deluxes, I don't know why they don't hop to the values. It was a random observation.

It's actually not OK to go to either. There is a sign, at the pool at the Polynesian which clearly states "Pool si for the exclusive use of registered guests of teh Polynesian resort".

It does not say pool is for the use of guests and their friends, family, mailman, and dog groomer.

If you all want to swim together, you are welcome to visit one of the water parks. The rules are in writing. They are also in the printed materials you get on check in. Very simple, no, your sister and her family are not welcome at the Polynesian pool, even if they are GF guests.

Excellent point. Of course, I can see how this could be a problem too. We usually stay at the Poly. I have 8 family members who live within 30 minutes of Orlando. It would be unfair to invite that many people to the Poly's pool, especially on a busy day.

Cara..we too have had guests join us, and we've been the joiner. We did ask at the desk, and they said fine. If the pool is so crowded, the lifeguard doesn't feel he could watch more people, then if you also ask him, he may say no...but I did ask at the front desk if we need to check with the lifeguard..and they said no. I mentioned I read on this board, that you were suppose to, and they said this is not an official Disney Board. I've actually never heard of anyone, such as a lifeguard (except someone's sister's brother in law's cousin said) told no, after the desk said yes. The desk will give you the extra bracelets if needed that day, and so it will never be questioned. If they ask for your ID's (although most times you only need one), you can just let them know the front desk ok'd it. I would be shocked, if they then told you no.
By the way, you may also want to visit the Values as a guest of your family with your kids. Those fun pools are preferred by my grands.

I agree..and just like the Holiday Inn (and I've already asked..the Sheraton Safari already said we were welcome to invite our friends to join us swimming in October) allows us to let our guests swim, and visit in our room, when we are visiting friends/relatives in their area, so does Disney. We go often, have friends in the area, and it's never been a problem. We also have visted others who are staying on Disney property, and that has never been a problem. If you wanted to swim in a pool that is already crowded, the desk may say no. Personally, if it was crowded, I wouldn't want to swim there.

I don't care if your friends and your Aunt Millie visit you in your room. If they swim in the resort pool when it's busy they had better not be using a lounge chair, you know why? Because we poor slobs that paid for the privilege of using that lounge chair have no where to sit!!!

Sounds like you should hunker down at the pool in the morning with about 3-4 lounge chairs stacked up, some wrapped towels to snap at offending people, and some diapers to wear so that you won't have to lose your place at the pool to go to the bathroom.

I haven't been around much to see the pool hopping threads, but I can see by the crazed look in some people's eyes that

"I CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"

I think Poly would make a mint selling swimwear with the slogan: You can pry this lounge chair from my cold, dead hands!@!
