I'm doing some WDW research for a friend who is planning to take her first WDW trip in Oct (mom,dad,3kids ages 3,6,7). I want to give her some resort and resort pool info so I'd like to confirm what I remember about some of the resorts and ask a few questions about places I've never stayed...

1. Is there a height restriciton for the BW keister-coaster slide or for any parts of stormalong bay?

2. Is the WL pool zero entry?

3. Do any of the mods or values have beaches/marinas/watercrafts?

4. Re: max occupancy - am I correct that GF and Poly allow 5 per room but the mods and value resorts allow 4 (w/baby incrib) unless you get a fam suite?

THANKS for the help!!

p.s. Is there anywhere in the world other than Disney where it's just about as much fun to plan a trip for someone else as it is planning for yourself ???!!!

I agree, I like to help others plan their WDW trips too! Of course, I am always dreaming and making my own virtual trip plans as well.

A family of five can stay at POR in one section. They have trundle beds. The trundle bed is small and would fit a small child. Just do a search "trundle beds" and you can see photos of the room with the beds.

We stayed at CBR a mod and it had a beach and small marina. You could rent bikes, and small motorcrafts and I think a sailboat at the marina. I am not positive since we didn't have much time (5 days total trip). Each resort has an official thread that you should check out for details.

Have fun planning the trip!

I can't answer most of your question, but have done lots of research on families of 5.

The options include:

-Family Suite at AS Music
-POR (has some trundle bed rooms that accomodate 5)
- Fort Wilderness Cabins.
- Most (not all ) deluxes, including CR. Poly, GF, and a number of others.
I know the Poly also has a zero entry pool.

The Wildreness Lodge is not zero entry. AKL, BC, Poly, SSR, are for sure.

1. I have never seen a height restriction on any resort pool or pool slide.
2. WL pool is not zero entry.
3. I think there are water crafts available at Port Orleans. I know they have lots of waterways and a water taxi you can take to DTD.
4. I think others have already answered your occupancy question. We have stayed in a POR trundle bed room as well as a 5 person deluxe room when we had less people. As a family of 6 we have stayed in DVC units (2 bedroom) as well as a Fort Wilderness cabin and 2 value resort rooms (connecting.)
Lacee:)

PS, You are so right, it is almost as much fun to help a friend plan as it is to plan a trip for yourself!

1. Can't answer that one.

2. Ditto

3. POR had those water mice you can rent, plus the boat to DTD. I'm pretty sure CSR has a beach, and I think maybe CBR does too.

4. POR allows 5 in a room with the trundle beds (or 6 if one person is under the age of 3).

Love AKL for your friend. Bunk bed room would work out for them, plus pack & play (or two smallest kids could sleep in the bottom bunk). Pool is zero entry (and the most gorgeous at WDW IMO). No lake for water craft, but the animals are fun, and lots of activities for little ones. The Story telling at night is fantastic as is the night-googles to watch the animals.

Mara, the CS place at AKL is one of the best on property, too.

1. I don't know about Stormalong Bay but I know the Keister Coaster at the Boardwalk doesn't have a height limit.
2. WL pool is not zero entry.
3. I think Caribbean Beach has beaches obviously:).
4. I think that the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge only accomodate 4 people along with the moderate and values (except for some rooms at Port Orleans Riverside).

All the moderate resorts rent watercraft - but at Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs, you are VERY limited as to where you can go (i.e. just in that resort's lake). POR/POFQ are better - if you rent for an hour, you can make it to Downtown Disney and back.

The Family Suites start at $184 a night duing value season.
Most of the Disney resorts (excluding DVC) charge extra for more than 2 adults in a room.
The Family Suites do not charge extra for extra adults.
1-6 adults can stay in the Family Suites for the same et price.
The Family Suites have discounts available also so if you keep your eyes open you just may snag a great deal.

Family Suite info:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

Do the chairs/ottomans actually make up 2 regular size (i.e. twin) beds or is it like a toddler bed?
