Pool Parties

but we go to the quiet pools.

Yes that's the solution.:)

The Values, especially, have large "secondary" Pools:

At Sports, head for the Grand Slam Pool

At Music head for the Piano Pool

At Movies head for the Mighty Ducks Pool

At POP head for the Bowling Pin Pool or Computer Pool

At AoA head for the Little Mermaid pool or the Cozy Cone Pool:)

My KIDS complained about the very loud CM yelling into her microphone. We could hear it from our 5th floor room with the balcony door closed up tight. If kids are their target, they are still missing the mark.

Anyone else wish the afternoon pool parties would just go away? I never see a huge amount of kids participating and some of the CMs are just so loud and obnoxious it kills me. I know, I'm not being magical...

I hate the pool parties too .... I thought some relaxing time during the hottest part of the day was magical. I was told by a CM that they have them so that the kids don't get bored at the resort. I replied "Seriously? Isn't that what the parks are for?" And the the CM shrugged her shoulders and said "sorry"

I WISH that it was as simple as going to another pool. That still doesn't help anyone staying in a room near a main pool. It's beyond annoying when you are trying to nap in your room and you are still hearing the music and CMs yelling into the mics.

Just having them turn down the volume so your ears won't bleed if you are poolside would be a nice start.

My kids had a blast at the one at OKW and it was only maybe an hour or hour and a half tops. It was mostly games in the pool with a short dance contest and then some Disney trivia. Even tons of the adults did the trivia. Maybe our CM wasn't as loud or annoying because I used to not like the parties, but this past trip, we had tons of fun with it.

It was a lot longer than an hour or hour and a half. We usually hang out at Millers Road or South Point and you can hear the racket from the pool party all afternoon at those pools. They are maybe two blocks away.

We don't have small kids anymore, so obviously these "parties" don't serve a purpose for us. It is WDW, so loud kids are something you will have to deal with at some point. I agree with the suggestion of breaks in the action. There is no need for the parties to go on all afternoon. I do have to wonder though....how much quieter would it be without the parties? You still would have the same amount of excited kids with energy to burn running around regardless. At least this way it's organised chaos!! LOL!!

We rarely use the main pool on our trips. Our last 4 trips have found us with a room close to a quiet pool and we used that for the most part. Catching rays in the daytime and relaxing by it with a drink in the evening. One of the reasons we always stay at a Mod resort is there always seems to be a quiet place to relax away from the action.

I don't like the pool parties much. Even when I had little kids - they didn't like how loud they were. I hung out around the quiet pool for awhile last trip but I know I was wishing for a pool bar at the quiet pool. LOL

Kids playing at the pool without pool parties are not nearly as loud as a CM with a microphone and recorded music.
Couldn't agree more :-). We have no children but DH and I have no problem with the idea of the party, just wish the volume of the CM and the music was less.

And it always seems like the CM running the party is hopped up on Starbucks, too.

My kids, especially my son who was 9 at the time loved the pool party.

We stay at the Poly, so on our pool day I was up at 6 for no reason, did laundry and headed to the pool to get our table for the day (dh doesn't always swim and we like a table for drinks, lunch, dinner). My kids couldn't wait til 1 to start the games. They had multiple breaks and came back for drinks/snacks. They loved that they won prizes too. We could barely hear what was going on as we were on the slide side of the pool so I could see the castle and they were primarily in the low end. Edited to add-we could see them or would walk over if we couldn't because they are our responsibility not the lifeguards/people running the games.

It kept them busy on our pool days because I know they would be bored swimming/going up/down the slide for 12 hours-yes I am psycho, pool days mean we don't leave the pool.

Our next trip my kids will be 17, 15 & 13 and I bed my 15 yo (son) will still want to play.

LOVE those all-day pool days!

Well there are more then one pool at each resort..

So I have not problem keeping the parties.

If a.guest wants qiuet, use another pool.

AKK

Trouble is, as some PPs have mentioned, if you want some downtime in your room, and your room is close to the pool, it is too loud to try to nap or relax. For marathon weekend last year, my room at ASMovies faced the pool (2nd or 3rd floor) and when I tried to rest after the half marathon, I just couldn't. There were TWO kids participating with the pool CM. But everyone within about 200 yards of the pool could hear every word screaming through the microphone. The CM and kids could have had just as much fun without the microphone.

(p.s. I didn't request a pool view room; I think preferred was all that was available when I booked. Had I realized it would have been that loud, I would have asked to be moved.)
