Last year I posted a thread that documented the installation of our inground pool. Many of you followed along and watched the step by step process, from the digging of the hole in the ground to the filling of the pool with water. The thread is still here, but the photos are gone. :confused3 I'm not sure what happened, but if anyone is interested, I could probably find a way to post them again.

Anyway, I thought I'd post some before and after photos showing the progress of our recent landscaping in and around the pool area. We knew when we had the pool installed that we'd have to do some landscaping afterwards, but we didn't realize how extensive it would be. The heavy trucks left big ruts in the lawn to the side of our house, where they had to drive to get around to the back. The cement truck left big piles of crushed rock all over the ground, and a good portion of our lawn was dug up and had to be fixed.

There were huge gaps under the fencing around the pool that had to be filled in and much of the lawn had to be reseeded. It'll be a few months before we have grass again in some areas. We also had to figure out what to put on the ground inside the pool area between the concrete decking and the fence.

So, if you want to see the results, go here: http://community.webshots.com/user/luvflorida

We still want to put some big planters with colorful flowers/plants inside the pool area, and we've added some adirondack chairs along one edge of the concrete decking since the pictures were taken. Now, all we need is this guy- :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: and some warm weather!!!!! :)

Beautiful pool, beautiful home!
When can I come swim?

thanks for posting! We are still waiting for our pool to be finished...we are still trying to decide on fencing and the one you have is one of our choices. Our poll will also not be screened and we are waiting until completion to do the landscaping but being in Florida and loving the beach as we do it will be all tropical. ;)

I actually wanted to go with a tropical look and am still trying to incorporate it into the pool area. Maybe I can do something in the way of plants/flowers and the containers they're in. :confused3 I'd love to be surrounded by palm trees, but this is Maine and that isn't going to happen! :rotfl2:

I've spent a lot of time looking at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville online stores hoping to find some things. I did order a big metal bucket decorated with tropical beach scenes. :sunny:

I am going to have to join something so I can share my pool pics. We are getting a pool soon....

Great photos love the umbrella matching the azalea's!

Gosh can I relate!!! We had our pool installed the week before Memorial Day and it has been one job after another. This weekend, we moved 6 ton of stone around the back edges of the pool....pool house was just built. I still have the electricians finishing the landscape lighting as we speak and next week the pavers are installed. Your pool looks great...if I get a chance, I'll try to post mine too. Thanks for sharing.

thanks for sharing! just wondering, how long did it take for your pool to be completed? we are going on 11 months now...!!! anyway, the plaster guys messed up the plaster so the pool is being drained today, stripped tomorrow, and replastered wed. I'm hoping to be able to swim by the 4th of july...

we should start another pool thread like your old one...I have a lot of pics too!

I remember that thread last year! I remember them trucking in your water!
Everything looks really beautiful now!

Is it a pool with liner? We are in the pool planning stages right now but have decided on a fiberglass pool. I hear that they are better in our climate.
Your looks nice!

There are plants that look like short palms that grow here in the northeast. I saw some in a yard but I don't know what they are called. And you can do tropical print fabrics for cushion covers, and stuff.
I want a nice resort feel to our pool area. I like these http://www.waterfallsandrocks.com/waterfalls.htm

Thank you! We haven't even been in it yet because the weather is not cooperating. You can visit, but NOBODY gets in that pool before I do! :teeth:

Wow, I'm sorry you've had to deal with all that! Thankfully, everything went smoothly with our pool. It was installed toward the end of last summer and took less than six weeks from the time they started digging to the time the water was put in the pool.

Our pool is gunite, a type of cement, with a white plaster finish. I'm going to try to find the plant you mentioned. Thanks! :)

Hey OP ---- it took me a minute but I just looked at your username and thought you were in Fl -!!

Your pool is beautiful though and I can't wait to post pics of ours! We have tons of white birds of paradise, frangipani's, orchids, pineapples, you name it....that are going to be incorporated into the "pool"!

Your landscaping looks very nice. I remember your thread of putting your pool in. Nice to see the finished part of it. :cheer2:

Enjoy your new pool.

When is the DIS meet at your house? :teeth: We will be happy to help break in the new pool.
