I've never seen any rules about flotation devices posted, but I can tell you what we did at POR. (Our son was 9 months old on that trip.) I spoke with a lifeguard at POR, because we could not find a flotation device small enough for him to fit. She suggested going to the boat house and signing out a life jacket for the duration of our trip. She told us to specify that we wanted an infant life jacket not the life vest. The guy at the boathouse gave us a life vest and it was very uncomfortable for him. The lifeguard, came to us and said that was not the one she meant. So when she got a chance, she went to the boathouse with us and showed the guy which one. It's the one they baby would have to wear if he went out on a boat. It keeps them on their back. It has a little loop at the head that you can pull to swish baby around in the water. It's free to use for your stay, you just have to sign it out then have it checked back in! I have started so many threads asking questions and no one ever answers them..so I KNEW that if I titled my thread pool hopping I'd get people here. 
Okay, now that I've got you here my real question is about floatation devices. 
When we go in Sept. our youngest will be 9 months, too little for a life jacket or wings, does the resort pools allow those yellow baby floats that the baby sits in? I'm trying to come up with an idea...our boys will then be 5, 4, 2 and 9 months. The 5 and 4 year old swim well with wings, the 2 year old will need to be held and the 9 mo. old obviously needs to be held...I'm thinking if they don't allow them then I will use my extra sling to strap the baby onto my hip...and i just won't go deep.
