pool hopping

Hi guys,
New to DVC about a year ago- we are going on our second trip as owners this spring, and another family (non dvc, but retning dvc points from dvc owner) will be joining us. We are staying at GFV, while the others will be close by at Polynesian villas. As far as I understand these two resorts don't allow dvc owners to pool hop. Is there anyway both families can hang out at the same pool, at either site?!

Since you are staying at different resorts, your only legal option to meet up at a water park.

If your friends were DVC members, they could hop to the GF pools. AFAIK, the VGF pools are not off limits for the pool-hopping perk. But since they are NOT members and they are not staying at the VGF on your points, they are not entitled to that perk. Sorry.

I would ask before giving up. Depending on who is the gate guard is and how busy the pool is may make a difference.

I think you will have more luck at GF. No gates on one pool, the other pool which is gated has never checked Magic Bands while we stayed there. The Poly Lava pool has seems to have more checking of bands as well as gates that need to be opened by magic band (at times). The oasis pool at Poly should be opening in the spring, that also is gated and being "new" will probably have more attention on controlling crowds. My advice has zero to do with what is allowed or not allowed.

Are you at the occupancy limit on both rooms? You could add their name to your reservation; or your name to their's, and then you could swim at either.

Thanks for all your replies! Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to just ask, would be nice to have an hour with both families poolside- I appreciate everyone's advice
