Pool Hopping

Is it or is it not allowed. This kind of got brought up on my other thread so I thought I would make a separate thread for it. Oh and I mean pool hopping for Disney Hotels only.

They never used to so I will be calling in a bit just for my own edifications.

I asked on the phone the other day. I was told it is no longer allowed unless a pool slide or pools are closed. However, she did say I could go to DLH (we stayed at Grand) and just ask nicely. If the pool isn't really crowded she said they may let me. Also, you can book a cabana and then, of course, you are allowed to use that pool.

I don't remember having to use a room key to get in to the pool at the DLH, so how would they really be able to tell if you were a guest or not? I could be mistaken, though.

Room keys are required to open the gate. If the area is busy they do come around and request to see keys.

No pool hopping, unless you rent a cabana.

When I was planning our first proper trip, my stepmom told me that they pool-hopped often from PPH. Our trip was in 2007 and I was planning all that year and a bit in '06. But everything I found even during that planning said that there was no pool hopping. I never figured out how long it had been since stepmom had been there, but by the time we got there in '07 it was long gone. So I don't know the timeframe the CM was talking about, but it's not like it *just* ended!
