Pool Hopping Question

It's hard to imagine people being "sorry" enough to pool hop, but it's not surprising.

I'm no where near rich (at least monetarily) and you'll find me at the All Star pools when I'm not in a park. Wouldn't even cross my mind to pool hop. I'm just not into "free handout" type stuff.

It isn't surprising that some folks don't want people being concerned about these violations because they want to commit them with impunity.

How true and well done! The sad part about all of this is that when new stricter rules are put into place due to the current abuses, then everyone loses. One day there will be security guards in place walking around and checking ID's and higher resort rates will happen because of it. Disney will pass that cost right along to the guest without thinking twice.

It's happens every day and it seems that new rules are put into place because too many found loop holes in the old ones. It was like that at my old job and everytime I turned around there was a memo or a meeting with words to the affect "It has come to our attention" or "There's a problem that needs to be addressed" and it got old, quick! It became unpleasant to work there and it all could have been avoided by people just doing the right thing instead doing what the wanted or feel that they deserved.

Sadly your right...some folks just love this issue...but to start searching past posts is out of order to try and discredit someone. The mods should look into that. It s really tacky and distastful. And has nothing to do with the question asked.
I wonder how old some posters really are?

Being relatively new around here.. I pretty much basically knew the answer to the OP's question.. but at the same time -- I wondered about things like Hopping betwee ASMu/ASMo/ASSp pools.. and I *think* that question was sorta answered with that's probably ok.. but with all the yelling and bitterness.. I must confess I'm not really sure.

I agree. There shouldn't be any tolerance here for threads advocating violating any of Disney's rules. The question should be answered, and then the thread closed. However, that's not our call -- it's the call of the moderators, and a moderator said yesterday that sometimes some value comes out of these tangential discussions.

Their house; their rules.

Some people may thing pool hopping is trivial. To others, it comes down to people treating others with a lack of consideration. What is tacky and distasteful is the fact that someone would submit a post telling people they are acting like preschoolers and need to growup, when all along, they are the ones breaking the rules.

Unless something has changed, you may use any of the AS pools as long as you are staying at one of the resorts. :)

Have fun at disney! :wave2:

They say Disney brings out the child in us all, and I suppose that goes with the good and the bad. I personally can see why people get a little "freaked out" over this issue, but what I dont understand is (and I've stayed at many different Disney resorts) why all the fuss over a pool? I mean, I get that pool hopping is crowding pools, etc, but really... you're at Disney World! Why swim? You can do that any time, anywhere. If your getting a little hot, ride Splash Mountain. Water is water after all.

And to be fair, I'm thinking about using my mug from my last trip at Pop when I return there this summer. I mean, hey, I bought it within the year, I should still be able to use it, right?

LOL - Great try at stirring things up. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I think that once the pool hopping question is answered then that should be it, thread closed.

You will always have people who like to point fingers at others, who like to go on and on about their hard earned dollars, as if we all don't work hard?

My family stays at the deluxe resorts and we have seen the pool hoppers in action. We shake our heads and wonder if Disney will do something about it, but that's where it ends for us, because it is Disney's problem.

I would never want to publicly, or even on an internet forum, embarrass someone. It does nothing for me. :sad2:

Why swim?
Hehe... My first instinct was, "Are you crazy!?!?" I'm still not sure you were joking, but I'm going to assume you were -- about that and about reusing your mug.

FGS....i think this thread should be closed now...is there any need for this vindictivness :confused3 ...to actually do a search on another poster, to try and dig up negative posts is pretty sad. :sad2:

Its obviously a major issue to lake ariel...but you are taking it too fAR....if you react this strongly to a pool chair being taken that you paid for...god only knows how you react to more serious issues.

You know sometimes Iam really put off taking my kids any where near disney with this horrible horrible attitude about.

This thread should close.. :wave2:

Of course you wouldn't want anyone to do a search lol :rotfl:

I agree...I'll be too busy enjoying time with my family to be amused by people being carded or whatever. :confused3

Why can't the question just be answered without the sarky comments...it never will though.

Your right Lorraine some here need to grow up. I watched a film called God bless the child last night...about a homeless mum and daughter.....It makes me angry at the pettiness about pool hopping. :confused3

Thanks Tinker,

was that movie on Lifetime....my cousin was telling me about a movie she watched last night on lifetime about a homeless women and it made her cry. I was working and missed it.

Threads like this just confusse me.....people work hard to afford nice Disney vacations (or at least I know I do) and then they are so worried about keeping others out that they can't enjoy what they worked so hard for. Honestly until I started reading these threads (only a few months ago) I never knew pool hopping was an issuse :confused3 :confused3

IMHO, if you post something on the boards you should be aware of how your words will come back to haunt you. When you want to argue a point of contention with others, one should assume they will be checked out to see if they have posted on this subject before. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.

To address the "tacky and distasteful" behavior here: when a person begins to impune another with accusations of immaturity and childishness it makes you wonder where their thoughts are. Most posts here have been very thoughtful, non-threatening or accusitory in any way. The fact is, the negativity of this thread has come from those who seem to be wanting an unwarranted defense of improper behavior.

Now for the question at hand! It is not right to access services you have not paid for: if you live across the street from the local hotel/motel, resort, golf course or any other recreation center, you are not given free access to use their facilities.......if you do, it is called trespassing which can be prosecuted in the courts. Being at WDW is no different (except instead of prosecution, you are kindly asked to leave). If you want deluxe resort service... PAY FOR IT!!

Oh yeah, remember too, if you post it here it is in the public forum and it will be viewed and may in the furture be used to keep you honest. Live By The Post, Die By The Post!!

:thumbsup2

hi Lorraine,,..Iam from the Uk...and the movie was on a channel called True movies....It was really depressing and didn't have a happy ending. Its even left me feeling down today :sad2: ..It makes me thankful for everything I have got...and makes me feel shameful all at the same time.

I agree. These types of posts always go south when the accusations start to fly. The "rule breakers" like to justify their position by referring to people as childish or "moral police" etc. If you break the rules and you know you are breaking the rules- at least own up to it and be honest about it instead of trying to focus the attention on other people with name calling. Name calling will not change the fact that pool hopping is not allowed except between sister resorts and except for DVC members with some restrictions - PERIOD!

I am so glad that in MY life people that try to abide by the rules and expect others to do the same are not wrong, childish or immature.

Let's be fair: Society is partially to blame. There is a strong thread these days of "do whatever is good for you, regardless of the rules, regardless of what you've agreed to, regardless of the consequences for others of your actions." Many people sincerely believe that "it's okay as long as you don't get caught." Concepts like "honor" and "integrity" are often derided instead of extolled. Maybe its a reflection of how little our leaders believe in these things which were one pillars of our society. I don't know. I do know that we, as a people, can do better, because we have done better. It wasn't always this way. I hope it won't always be this way, either.

well I haven't broke the rules ....and I think lake ariels posts are childish and have a nasty undertone...don't take my word for it do a search...she does this on a lot on threads.

I actually agree with the sentiment...pool hopping is against the rules and I personally would not do it...I can't swim anyway :teeth: ...I just disagree with the way lake ariel trys to undermine and embarrass...and always makes snide comments..its that what is tacky.

Actually the main pool at POP is a lot of fun......we liked it better the AKL and CBR....but then my family is more into having a good time and not worrying about what other's are doing. Although on these threads I do have a good time reading how others freak out over such stupid things as pool hopping and mug refilling, it's like watching preschoolers tattle on each other....so pathetic. my thought are let Disney take care of the pool hoppers and the rest of yall GROWUP!!!!!![

I see you actually are busy illegally pool hopping, but everyone else should grow up?

We are hoppers everytime. We love to visit all the parks but MK is our all time fav. Usually we like shorter visits at MGM and Epcot, so we spend half day at each park (mornings at MGM and evenings at EPCOT). The hopper pass is also great because we can hop back and forth to all the perades. On the day you are at AK you will want the hopper pass so that when the park closes early you can hit another park. This trip our goal is to make it to each of the magic hours (morning and night for all the parks) at least once. If we did not have the hopper pass that would be much harder. This trip we are traveling in a big group (some teens) so the hopper pass is more important then ever.

When you consider that you are already spending so much on a WDW vacation, you might as well spend the little bit extra...it really does make the vacation much more enjoyable. I saved money by getting the limited hopper pass. I can go back and forth to the four parks but it does not include the water parks. We never use the water parks anyway. It is much more fun to hotel hop. What we do is when we are at a park and are hot and need a break we take the transportation to one off the hotels, we try out their pool, have a drink at the pool bar and then head back to a park. On different days visit all the different hotels and use there pools. __________________

LOL!!!! How did you get the search function to work? Well anyways search a little harder....until I got a respond to that thread I NEVER knew pool hopping was against the rules, I'm not sure were these signs are talking about. In fact I have a video from Disney that says other wise...well at least I THOUGHT it says other wise, it says something about enjoying the different resorts while staying on property....after learning about "pool hopper" I re-watched it and although it shows a scene at one of the pools it does not says specifically that you can swim at other pools. Now that I know I will not pool hop, I don't knowingly break rules. Also after reading a lot of threads on pool hopping I was able to pick out a few valid concerns from all the childish whining. The number one being it is not fair to over crowed a pool so that paying guest can not enjoy it. Not that I have ever seen this as an issue....I go to Disney in the off season and any "pool hopping" I've done is during the day when most people are at the parks.

Congrats Lakeariel!!!!!! You found out my dirty secret I POOL HOPPED!!!
(although how big secret it is I don't know since I freely put it out on the internet for millions to read). Now condemn me to burn in hell for my horrid sin
