Pool homes? Windsor Hills?

First post here. (yay me!) Ok, we were all set to book a Disney Resort, but after lurking here for a month or so I talked my hubby into renting a house. Now I'm not sure if we waited too long to book?? I submitted a couple of requests, but then realized it didn't ask how many bedrooms, until I started getting quotes for 3 bedrooms. (I need at least 4) When I tried to send another req't (WH) the mail just keeps getting returned.

Also, I'm very confused on how to find properties.

Am I just making this too hard?

Thanks!

Sondra

There are 2 type of inquiries you can do... one targeted to the size of property you need 2/3/4/5 bedrooms...and a general inquiry.

You did a general inquiry (I received / saw it). So...it went out to everyone in Windsor Hills. This means you will be getting TONS of responses (I usually don't suggest people do this, but hey, too late now! hehe)

It's actually probably ok that you did though, as there are not very many 4 bedroom homes in the resort, and you can probably find a 5 bedroom pool home for basically the same price. It's good to have the quotes for comparison.

You're getting rejected emails because some owners have bad email addresses linked to their WHR ad site, sorry, I've asked the site admin about this before but it happens, it's not your email that's the issue, some people have bad or old email addresses linked to the site.

To find properties, you just click on their ad, their calendar (check for availability / etc), or when an owner sends you a quote, you should hopefully have a link to their website so you can check it out further. It's a bit of work to look through the various properties, and the quality of the furnishings and the amenities offered does vary from home-home, this is the time consuming part of the process, and I don't know of an easy way to simplify it for you unfortunately, you just have to "Shop" around on the web and take a look at the various properties and find one you like, has availability, etc for what you're looking for!

Some people have requirements like internet, themed rooms, etc, if this was important to you I would have suggested you put it in the notes field when you make the inquiry.

Best of luck! Do come back and ask for advice / help here, we're glad to help! I'm an owner in Windsor Hills myself (townhomes though), and there are lots of other DIS board members who have stayed in various resort homes at Windsor Hills as well who I'm sure would be happy to help you or make recommendations based on homes they have stayed in themselves!

Thanks so much for the fast reply! When I tried to send another request for specific bedrooms it looks like that email also was returned, is it because I sent 2? So now I'm not even sure that my additional request for more bedrooms was rec'd.

Thanks again,
Sondra

It went out....it's owners that have "Bad" email addresses again. I got your first inquiry but not the second one (as I own 3 bedroom homes).

I didn't respond to it though as you mentioned wanting a larger home! LOL (on here)

No point in flooding you with quotes for places you're not interested in after all!

Anyhow, you're on the right path! Since you had already done a general inquiry, you should be getting back just tons and tons of responses, this is actually why I suggest people narrow it down to the # of bedrooms you're looking for first. Even doing this, you'll get lots of responses, assuming people have availability (for your dates you should have plenty of choices still, not a problem at all!).

I've rented homes at WH before, but I never used that general inquiry page. I generally searched by the number of bedrooms I needed, then followed links to the homeowner's pages to see availability calendars, etc. vrbo.com is also a great way to look - if you click on the Kissimmee as the location, you can then search by neighborhoods.

I rented a 4 bedroom from emerald palm villas before (I think that is the name. You can google it). Two of the homes are 4 bedrooms in WH. One, I think, is called the Beach House. It was great.

There are more 5- and 6-bed homes at Windsor Hills than 4-beds. You might want to try specifying 5/6 bed and see what availability and rates you get on those.

I did do that, and now narrowing my choices. Thanks to everyone for the help!

Ok, the one that I want only takes bank drafts, no paypal or cc.
Is that the norm?

Thanks, Sondra

Depends on the owners, all are a little bit different. Ask if you can pay via a credit card via their management company instead.

I encourage other owners to setup multiple avenues of payments for guests, to make it easy for the guests to pay them! It also makes it more secure for guests, gives them some added protection and comfort, that sort of thing.

If you're comfortable with it, move ahead by all means. If not, I would state your reservations to the owner and let them know this would be a "deal breaker" for you...and why. This may force them to go and setup a Paypal account (finally...they really should have one after all), or take credit cards through some other means.

There's no refunds and no options for one if you use a money order or personal check. Still, lots of people choose to pay us via personal check, so some are quite comfortable with this method of payment, we just give people numerous options for making payments so they can use whichever method they feel the most comfortable with!

There are pros and cons to each..
