Pool Home Experts-please help

Apparently these are questions that pool home owners don't want to answer!! We had narrowed down our choices to 3 homes, I emailed all three the above questions to get answered and have not heard a word back from any of them. I had asked them each 2 other questions and heard back from them really quickly. So it looks like it is back to square one in the search. I figure if you can't get a simple question answered, there is no hope of communication if something bigger were to arise. From what I gather from peoples experiences here it would be smart to get the pool heat and be sure the pool is useable. Better to have it and not need it than to not have it and wish we did. I am beginning to see why people just stay in hotels lol!!!

Oh, pk1959..I know why you're getting a little frustrated. It's important that your questions are answered, in a professional and courteous way, especially when there is a part of your vacation that is important to you.

I know when we get odd replies, or no replies (regarding specific questions) from owners, frankly, I'm a little puzzled.

And we feel the same way...if it's a problem to get those little "pre-sale" questions asked, what happens after they have your money??

Understanding that some owners get 100's of emails/day regarding their properties, you can see why it would get a little tedious....

...that being said, trust has to run both ways...but like Karen said, not all owners are like that:)

There are a few townhomes/villas up on the Reviews Board...all Dis'er "approved" you could say.:)

Let us know!
We're rooting for a "non-human-soup-warm-pool/spa-vacation" for you!! LOL!

Solar- we have solar AND a gas system- The spa can be run sep- BUT it toally depends on plumbing (just like your inside house plumbing- it depends on how the pipes are run)

We find our spa gets to 102 easily, even in winter, which is fine- the spa shoud be above 90, for sure, UNLESS the owner or guest wants it cooler-

May- I agree, I would go with pool and spa heat for night-time swimming-

Gas heat can be QUITE expensive for an owner (I have had $700 monthly gas bill- really)-we try and average our cost to heat our very oversized pool and spa- We really don't make money- it is a wash - but that is in our situation-

Any other questions, please feel free to ask

We also recommend pool heat in May - it does need that extra little boost.

I don't understand why the owner said they cannot just heat the spa. We have two homes, one with electric for pool and spa and the other has electric for pool with gas for spa. Both homes can get the spa upto 104 but the gas one does it quicker and doesn't rely on the outside air temperature.

I have no experience of solar.

Our aim is to get the pool heated to somewhere around 82-84 (any higher than this and it burns off the chemicals too quickly and can lead to an unhealthy pool). I have been told that heating to 78 is considered a heated pool in FL - but that is only hearsay to me.

The spa we aim for around 102-104. Personally we turn the spa heat down when we are there. I like the spa very warm (98ish), but not too hot that I have to get out every 5 minutes. I like to sit in the spa with a cool drink and look at the wildlife behind the home :-)

With the electric heater for the pool and spa, we have a temperature for the pool heat and a temperature for the spa heat. If we don't want to heat the pool, then our MC will turn the pool temperature down, but keep the spa temperature up. It is doable...

Pool heaters do not usually run 24/7 - typically they are set to run 8-12 hours a day. Ours are set to run from 8am-8pm (as we don't want to disturb guests with pool equipment running over night - it is noisy - we have been at our home where we found the equipment was running overnight right next to the Master Bedroom - not fun!!! If you have a pool blanket use iit (it does help. The pool will drop 10-15 degrees temperature overnight if not used - so if you like to swim in the morning - use the blanket.

In most of the pools I have seen the water from the spa flows into the pool, therefore if you are heating the spa you are also heating the pool. Are your spas totally seperate from the pools?

No,

They have waterfall spas like you mention.

When you heat the spa, it stops the heat water circulating round the pool.

I will have to find out exactly how our manco does it... (I am not a pool expert but have learnt and are learning a lot...)

The last time we rented a home my husband was able to direct the heat to the spa or the pool. If you direct it to the spa instead of the pool you obviously get the water a bit warmer in the spa than the pool, but you can't just say that one was being heated and not the other, because the water flows from the spa and then heats up the pool water more. So you really are essentially heating both no matter what you do :confused3 .

It looks like we found just what we were looking for! Whats even better is the owner is VERY good about answering any and all questions! It is a house in Trafalgar Villages which I know is a little further out, but since this trip is mainly a non-Disney trip :sad1: I think it will be fine. Anyone have any personal experiences with Trafalgar Villages?? I want to thank everyone here on the Dis for being so supportive and helpful. I have to especially thank FLParadisevilla (Karen) who has been so gracious and kind through all my zillions of emails to her!!!!! :grouphug:

Any time!!! That is what we are all here for!! I know you will have a great time! keep us posted on the trip and how much fun you have!!
