Hello all! :yay: Sorry if this has been asked before but I have a question about pool heat. We are planning a trip for Oct 30 - Nov 8 2009. The house we are renting has a pool and they recommend pool heat starting in Nov. It would cost close to $200 to heat the pool. Is this neccesary? Has anyone stayed during that time period and not had pool heat??? I don't want to get into an ice cold pool but wasn't sure if it would be very cold out to cool the pool off during that time frame. Isn't FL still pretty hot then??? Thanks! :goodvibes

Don't know about the pool heat. But another idea would be that if it was that hot, (any your trip was revolving around disney) to just add the water park feature to your ticket.

Could you wait until your arrival to add the heat to the pool. You could look at weather.com a few days prior to your arrival and determine if you needed the heat of not. Florida can be crazy. It could be 50 degrees or 90.

We rented a townhouse at Windsor Hills one year during the second week of November and got the pool heat. The management company didn't have the heat turned on when we got there and the water was freezing. Even my kids couldn't stay in more than ten minutes. It was much nicer when the heat was turned on. It gets chilly at nights, and even with a pool cover, the pool won't stay warm enough by itself.

Yes you will need the pool heat for sure. Also if a pool blanket is at the home use that when ever not swimming. It will help keep the pool heat in. The days may be warm but the nights drop.

Yes you will need pool heat. Make sure it has a pool cover and keep it on when you're not using the pool.

Thank you everyone for helping me. So pool heat it is! Don't mind paying for it if its going to be necessary. Thanks again~ :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Pool heat is so nice and worth every penny. The one time we didn't get it b/c we were going in May and weather.com avg. was high of 88. I figured that's pretty hot so why bother? Well it sure isn't that hot at night when you return from the parks. We barely used the pool that trip and the kids were very disappointed. I think I would never not get pool heat. Yes, it's just that yummy!:cloud9:

Oh thanks so much for your input! I hate cold water! I will definately be getting it. I don't mind spending the money as long as its needed for something like this! So where did you stay with a pool? Did you like it?

I see your ticker says you are going to Grand Canyon and Sedona! What a fun and interesting trip! Bring your camera!!!

We've stayed 3x in Rolling Hills and once in Windsor Palms. This was pre-Windsor Hills.
Thanks for the tip out west! Can't wait! :cool1:

What about pool heat October 3-10? The owner stated that is an iffy time of year for pool heat. She stated we could add it right before our trip if we wanted to. What is your experiences?

Personally I would get it just to be sure if it is not to your liking ask to have it turned off.

Personally I would do pool heat in October.

If you do decide to switch on or off pool heat during your stay, be aware that some management companies will charge a call out fee for doing that.

You will need pool heat if the temperature goes below 80 degrees at any point and it's almost certain it will at night at that time of year.

Pool heat really extends the usable time of the pool. Without it, swimming is only good during the warmest, sunniest part of the day. It feels cool quickly once the sun goes down.
My kids liked to take a dip in the early am while I drank my coffee. They'd hop in again after being in the parks all day, sometimes at 9 or 10 pm. Once watched a lunar eclipse very late at night. It was on the news so we were waiting for it. :)
We always felt it was well worth the $.
I'd check prior to renting to see if pool heat $ refundable. It wasn't when we used to rent (now have a ts so no more pool homes) so don't count on being able to call them midstay to cancel and get the $ back. May be different when renting directly thru the owner. Can't hurt to ask.
