I've got a home in Emerald Island Resort at the end of April. Should we ask for heat for the pool? :rotfl2:

Oh I hope not!!! I'm headed there in 12 days... it better be warmer by then!!! :sunny:

I wouldn't think so and take a look around and let me know how EI is we miss being there and will not be down until Sept.

Everytime we've been in April it's always HOT. So, I think you'll be fine w/o it. Have a great trip!!

Yes,definately pool heat.Im going April 13th - May 4th and Ill have pool heat.
Went end of May last year and had pool heat.
But I do have a large pool. Most homes have jetted spas - not hot tubs-so if you dont get heating, there is no pleasure in using this at all!

I know kids will go in no matter, but if you really want to be sure to enjoy it,but each to their own,

Unless your owner has a separate arrangement for heating their jetted spa. Our last villa had a system that once you flipped the bubbles on, the heating would kick in for only the spa...and in a short time, was a toasty 104*....electric heating.

If your owner has gas heating installed, the "spa" will heat up that much quicker.

We were disappointed our first villa stay for this very reason - spa and the pool were exactly the same temperature...yet, it was advertised as a hot tub :confused3

We've learned:)

We are from Canada and I would say if you plan on using the pool get the heat . The last time we rented a house we thought it would be warn enough so lets save the cash , it was freezing even the kids did'nt like it the adults could barely stay in this was in mid april.

So if I understand you correctly, if you don't get the heat for the pool, the hot tub will be cold too? I ordered just heat for the hot tub and no heat for the pool. I like the heat from the hot tub, but when it get's to hot ,I like jumping in a cool pool. I didn't know about the temp being the same in the pool & hot tub. What is the point of a Hot tub/Spa if it's not hot?

We will be in EI in 18 days  :Pinkbounc We went ahead and got pool heat because like someone else said we have small kids and they like their water alittle toasty and plus for night swimming. We anticipate coming from the attractions and my oldest or myself still wanting to get in. Now the end of May probably I would go without. April is just to iffy for us!! :goodvibes

You really have to check with your pool home owner as to the type of pool/spa/hot tub/heating set up they have.:)

They could have electric heating for the pool, and gas heating for the spa...
They could have electric heating for both..
They could have solar heating..
Gas heating for both..
Heating only for the spa..

What makes everything so confusing is that the ads will specify a spa or a hot tub..to some, they're the same thing, ie, DH and I :teeth: It's a smaller "pool", with high pressure jets, that you can turn off and on, and gets hotter than the pool - would be our definition.

To other people, that's a hot tub.
We thought the hot tubs were freestanding, cedar trimmed, with the big heavy covers. :goodvibes (But that the little circular spas at the side would always have extra heating capabilities...and we discovered that's not always the case).

Some of the pool homes (like the one we rented our first stay) has a lovely spa...it's a small pool, with seating, and high pressure jets that you can turn off and on...

...but no extra heat. (Other than the heating for the pool)

The key questions to ask an owner before signing a rental agreement - if this is important to you - are:
"Does your spa/jetted tub heat up to 104*, quickly?
How long does it take to heat?
How is it heated?
Is it dependent on the outside air temps?
Can I turn the jets on and off and still have the spa warm?"

Sorry this is so long:)

It sounds like the heating capabilities for the spa you're renting is perhaps gas heating, and separate from the pool heater...which is likely electric (It may be gas too, but that would be really $$$)

Just check with your owner - and let us know too:):)

We just got back and had the pool heated. The kids were able to swim when they got up (7:30 am) and also in the evening. I think the heat was well worth the money. Remember that most of the pools are enclosed and the screen cuts down on the direct sunlight to heat the pool.
