pool floats and toys

We are staying at the All Star Music resort. We usually stay off site and bring our own swim tubes for the pools, and often time dive sticks and pool toys, that we then leave with another family when we leave. Does Disney allow pool swim rings, beach balls, floats, etc in their pools? I am not talking huge tubes, just dollar store things, but something to float around on when we take our afternoon breaks or late at night after llong day at park. I don't want to intrude on others enjoyment,but I like to have a swim ring to float or hold onto

They do not allow floats. rafts and tubes unless they provide them and those are provided only at YC/BC pool. But noodles are permitted like stargazertechie said.

And other toys are okay as long as you don't try to monopolize the pool by tossing them across the pool and other guests who might not like to play your games.

Just home from a trip where we used the pool alot (POFQ) and the only pool toys I saw were rings that were thrown to dive for and noodles. The pools are fairly crowded this time of year.

THey are not really clear on what toys are permitted. It is not posted on their pool rules.

My girls were so excited to swim around in their (small) mermaid fins (made of a soft rubber). Pool was empty (Little Mermaid pool) but for a couple of families. As soon as my daughters put them on their feet the lifeguard made a beeline for the girls and told them they couldnt use it.

My girls were embarassed, they felt the lifeguard was scolding them. They didnt feel comfortable staying and wanted to leave. It occurred to me I should review the pool rules so I know what is allowed and they make no mention of pool toys, etc. I asked the lifeguard to clarify how we are supposed to know what is allowed and what is not so my girls will not be scolded. He couldnt offer anything up. Later I saw some kids spiking a beach ball around in the pool, bonking people in the head and the lifeguard said nothing. Go figure.

Flippers and masks are not permitted. Goggles are permitted.

What about water wings or swimmies? My 4 year old is terrified without them.

Water wings are allowed, not sure what swimmies are, but if they are swim aides and are attached to them like the wings it would be allowed. They also have PDFs at the pool.

Last year we brought a swim ring, if I knew the name of it I'd post a picture, but it's a small inflatable ring with more of a net in the middle that you can sit in. We were at POP using it for 4 days until we had an experience much like the above poster where the lifeguard scolded us for using it. We were shocked and my DS was so embarrassed that we left the pool. (He's a strict rule-follower like me... I just didn't know it would be against the rules... we were at the Bowling Pin pool with no one in it but us). Oh well, live and learn, we aren't bringing any pool toys this time.

We had a small ring for my DS4 and a baby ring (inflatable with the middle "seat" so he could sit in it) for our trip last November at POR and used them every day. No one said anything.

Note, these were not big "normal" sized tubes. I think DS4's ring is maybe 18 inches across.

I saw one day they wouldn't let a little boy use a boogie board and the Mom was arguing that it helped her son swim. The lifeguard didn't care and said thats why they provide lifejackets.

Their pool, their rules.... Most guests know this when going in.... Too many of these "toys" clutter up the pool and restrict the lifeguard his vision of the pool bottom... I commend the lifeguard..!

We were at AKL a couple weeks ago. My son played with a couple of dinosaur toys everyday and I saw many people playing catch with pool balls.

The lifeguards have to see the entire bottom of the pool at all times. After the recent incident, they are being especially careful. Small toys like beach balls and rings or dive sticks are allowed unless its too crowded or such.
The lifeguards are there to make sure everyone is safe at all times. I'm sorry that some people and their children felt scolded but don't take it that way. Just be glad that they are looking out for your safety!

What about the swimsuits with the floatation device built in? I was thinking about buying these for our younger two next year since they don't know how to swim. I didn't want to deal with pool noodles and in my experience, water wings don't work that well. Can we use those suits at the resort pools?

Thank you. I've had to pull kids out of the water in crowded wave pools in my hometown because they get stuck under all of the inner tubes.

There have been a few drownings around here from people getting trapped under tubes in wave pools. Several of them have banned tubes in the wave pool as a result.

Another thing that is usually not allowed is infant floats with sunshades. The lifeguards have to be able to see the baby's face.

I second the use of Stearns Puddle Jumpers. They are CG approved and are WAY better than inflatable floaties and the swimsuits with the built-in flotation devices. They latch in the back so it's really hard for kids to take off, which is what my DD would do with the ones that just go on the arms and give me a heart attack. These were the best investment I ever made when it comes to pool safety for my kiddos.
